so, contimplating a brake upgrade, but I dont know if paying the extra for slotted rotors is really worth it.... would a stock rotor & ceramic pads be enough of an upgrade... slotted rotors are pretty well double the cost of normal rotors....

My dad has them on his 02 Saturn SC2. And that thing bites harder then factory pads. I think they are worth the upgrade. They are only a good OE replacement. No point in buying cheap rotors. They have a tendcy to warp

I have a set of slotted/drilled rotors with ceramic pads that I install with my summer wheels. When the snows go on, the stock rotors and semi-metalic pads are installed.

I have R1 cross drilled and slotted rotors and semi-metalic pads for under $200.

IIRC i paid $179 or $189 for all 4 rotors and pads.

but, for the increase in stopping power you see in "spirited" street driving, are they worth the cost over OE replacements?

If you feel comfortable with the stopping power of our OE parts then go ahead and keep them. I personally will be upgrading the brakes as soon as the money will allow.

Considering that the cost of most drilled or slotted rotors is not much more than that of plain rotors, I'd say it's worth it, yes.

Heres a good generalization for you....
If race cars have em, then they must be better.:)

If I had known about the R1 concpets rotors, I would have gotten those instead. The cheap ones are only 10 bucks more for the pair than OE replacements.

I went with R1 Concepts, and yeah the stopping power is so much better, I am very happy with them and I would do it again if I had the chance.
