Im running 235/40/18s and have no problem at all. Not sure if the extra sidewall will do much.
The 235/40/18 I’m running will give you only a minor speedometer error.
I don’t know about 245.
But IMHO it isn’t that much wider to make it worth finding out.

Yup. Its very very very small change.

It will look like shit and you will need at least an 8" wide rim.

Yes they will fit, minor speedo change as others have stated and as Rand (Coupe) says you will need 8" wide rims.
IMO, As for looks thats a matter of preference as well as the rim style slightly lowered may look better.

also the rims are 5x114.3... ive heard that its a good idea to get hub rings to make them fit perfect since out real bolt pattern is 5x115... what the hell is a hub ring?... and where can i get it from?...

a- how does the width of a tire affect your speedo?
b- hub rings are lil plastic rings that you put inside the center of the wheel to help center the wheel on the hub, and to prevent it from being loose which causes more strain on your bolts
3- you can get hub rings anywhere that sells wheels, although you may want to find somewhere that sells these 18's you are getting so that you can make sure you got rings to fit those wheels and your car (instead of having to guess)

The width multiplied by the aspect ratio times two plus the rim diameter gives you the diameter of the tire.

huh... i thought it was just the overall size of the wheel / tire + sidewall that made the difference... interesting

The sidewall height is expressed as a percentage of the width. So a 40-series tire has a sidewall that is 40% of the width. Therefore the wider the tire with the same aspect ratio will also be taller.

why not just go with a 235? 245 will be cutting it very close, if not rubbing. I guess it partially depends on the offset. I run 235's and had to shave off a bit of my mud flaps because of the rub

I have some 7.5 width & 18in diameter rims. Front tires are 235-40-18 and rears are 245-40-18.

did you notice a nice difference in handling w/ those size tires?

Handling was way better, and I have had no issues other than me needing to lower the car because it looks like a 4x4. That is in the works and hope to have my sprint springs and new monroe struts installed next week.

offset has nothing to do with it. Offset is how far the spokes sit off the axle, so that they clear the caliper
offset is the distance from the surface that sits aganist the rotor / drum to the center line of the rim

Exactly. And if the rim is too far in or too far out (positive or negative offset), then you can run into rubbing issues.
