Ok I'm going to put a new system in my04 GT the facory 6x9's are shot blown since I got the the car in July. also the front speaker sound like crap. I don't have a lot of money and I spend alot of time in the car 40 round trip to work every day and classes on monday wedensday thursday and Friday's. Plus a possible 3700mile road trip from New Mexico to Alaska this summer. I was wondering what anyone thought about this set up.

Deck: Pyle PLCD65WXMU Has a USB set up so I can plug either My MP3 player in it or a 80GB lap top hard drive I have setting around collecting dust.

Front Doors: Pyramid 5494 5.25" I like the red color of these would look good in my Red GT

Rear Deck: Pyramid 6594 6.5

I have a Monsoon system in it now and I'm not going to put an interface unite in to maintain the chimes. I never let my fuel get below a quarter of a tank and I check my dash regualry while Im driving so I'm not worried about the chimes. This is just a tempory deal when I get more money Iplan on putting a whole new system in I just can't afford it right now.

Definitely look around at some of the info about the Monsoon rear speakers. You can't just take out the old 6x9s and put just any aftermarket set in and have it sound anywhere near right.

I'd also rethink the deck and speakers if I were you but that's my preference. How about giving us a budget and we'll see what we might be able to put together as alternatives.

Also, don't be fooled into thinking you can just plug any USB device into the USB ports on the deck, there are pretty extensive restrictions on what will work and what won't. I'm not saying it WON'T work, but don't count on it.

well I'm looking at around 300 to 400 US tops right now. I might be able to come up with more.

Unless you're going to change the grills for the door speakers the color won't matter as far as I can tell, since it looks like the stock grills have a padding that also hides the actual speaker from view. I'd say for now don't worry about the rear speakers unless you have people riding in the back all the time, not messing with them for now saves you some time and money. For around $280 you can get a brand new Pioneer HU and Polk 5.25" speakers for the front from ebay. Just look at the seller's rating, how many sales they've done, and their layout. Doing your system halfassed at first then fixing it later will only cost you more money than doing it right the first time.

Mathison pretty much hit it on the head. That would have probably been my exact reccomendation, right down to the brands. For model numbers, look into the Pioneer DEH-P480mp, DEH-P580mp and DEH-P680mp. Those are all last years Premier models so you might be able to find a good deal. I swear by ebay but there are plenty of people who aren't big fans, so that's up to you.

As for speakers, I happen to run the Polk DB5250 5.25 component set so i'm partial to those, but speakers are all about personal preference. I got mine from ebay for around $100.

For $400 you can actually get some decent equipment that you won't have to replace if and when you decide to go with amps and subs down the road if you want to go that route.

k thanks guys I really appreciate it after looking a little more and doing some research I think I(m going to go with this

Blaupunkt Bahamas MP46

Blaupunkt GTc542 5-1/4 front speakers

Blaupunkt GTc652 6-1/2 rear

I can get the whole setup for under 360.00

I really appreciate your input and thanks. Back in the 80's I would have no problem deciding what to use but I haven't installed a system in years in MY 99 I had best buy do it for me.

Just remember... Like everything else, you get what you pay for, and with car audio, it's alot harder to change out shit that'll blow a month down the line than it would be to take a TV back to the store because it doesn't work anymore...

Don't forget to hold extra cash aside for other necessities, like extra wire if you plan on upping the size of the speaker wire, the head unit adapter so it fits nice and tight, and probably a Metra adapter for the front speakers, since you're going from 4"x6" to 5 1/4", unless you like performing surgery on your door. Make sure you get the wire harness for the back of the HU too, saves headaches that way. Hope your install goes good for you.

Broder, unless you want to make a custom plate, you want 6"x9" speakers in the back, not 6 1/2".
