i was thinking of putting rims on my 93 ga, and was wondering what the biggest i could go is, without screwing anything up. i wanted to get some rims from a g6, would they fit? the car comes stock with 14s, and im wondering if 16s or even 17s would just look stupid?

G5&6 have different wheel pattern than Grand Ams. The pre 99 wheels will fit so look for picture of them. 16's were optional.

17's would also work OK, some go bigger, but I wouldn't reccomend it.

Why wouldn't you recommend it? Wheels of bigger sizes come with smaller tires so the over all diameter is the same so your speedometer is not affected
You can put 19's on the car and be fine (i've got 19's on my 98 which is the same more or less as your 93)

i've seen 20's on 99+ with no issues being reported

The larger diameter wheels increase unsprung weight and mass. It make the vehicle ride rougher and handle less.

Because the ride suffers and it looks like crap.

yeah sure the overall ride quality is affected, but I don't think its that much... its not like a GA rides like a bmw stock. not sure how handling is worse... but then again I upgraded all of my suspension parts so I don't even get body roll

Ill tell you this, I notice a big Difference in ride quality when I change back to my stock rims for the winter. They ride so much better then my Summer ones and its only an inch differance. I see Gus's point though. I would say Stick to a 17 or 18 inch rim and you will be fine. Gus has 19 inch rims but he also has a body kit and is dropped. I dont think 19's or bigger would look good rolling with the stock GT or SE kits.
