As long as you avoid potholes and Curbs, you should be fine. I only bent the lip of a rim when an ambulance forced me into a high curb.

No problems here, I remove my 18's in the winter months & put the stockers on.

If you bend the rim on a pothole its usually from one of two reasons 1)the tire is low on air and cant cushion the rim and 2) the rim is a poor design and is weak.
BTW I live on the TN/KY border and roads here are horrible. No problem so far with my 18's.

I would imagine most of you run 40 series? Most of the low pro tires have rim flanges correct? That should keep me kinda safe other than huge potholes lol....Now onto the rim decisions....

I ride on 235/40/18s and they do have a nice sice flange on it. They are an expensive tire though so that could be the reason its so big.

You can bend 15's with a good sized side wall anywhere as well as 18's with low pro tires. Like everyone said, you just have to be a little more careful with what you hit in the road with smaller tires.

Yup, and some wheel designs are more prone to bending that others.

Traditional 5 or 6 spoke rims are usually the strongest right?

Still depends on exact design and materials... it's hard to gauge which will be the least prone to bending/cracking.

I like the 5 spoke rims the best on 99+ anyways......Debating on chrome or painted black with machined lip
