Lately, every couple of days I go to start my car and it's totally dead. No ticking, no lights, nothing. The only way to get it going is to disconnect the battery for a second, reconnect it and boom - it starts no problem. Once started, it doesn't stall; but when I turn off the ignition it's game over. Weird.

My battery is about six months old so I know it's not that, and the leads look nice and clean - no corrosion.. It's almost like my car needs to be rebooted.

Has anybody else ran into this? Is my pcm fried? Or battery just defective?

Yeah... sounds like your theft lock system faulted out or something... either that or its a really, really, really weird problem with the ignition switch

Why theftlock? When the car starts the security light isn't on.

And if it is, how do I fix it?

I don't think it's the ignition...nothing works when it's dead; not even the hazard switch or interior lights.

Those things not on the key are not controlled by the computer. I would replace the battery cables and clean the battery terminals. My guess is that there is a break in the cable. Try turning on the car and the headlights. Do not disconnect the battery. Bend the cables back and forth looking for lights and radio

Yes, it seems to point to the cable.

thanks for the responses all.
