Im in need of some new brake pads and I am looking to try some different ones. The last time I used Duralast gold's. They worked pretty good, but I was thinking about trying to get some better ones.

*better* is subjective
What do you want in a brake pad?
You do know that brake pads are only a piece of the system and wont make much of a difference if thats all your changeing.

Well I do know that. I was just asking what type everyone liked to use. I will be doing a bunch of suspension upgrading over the end of winter.

I use Performance Friction CarbonMetallic Z-Rated (though I don't think the Z-Rated are available for 99+ cars, only the reg. Carbon Metallic). They are among the better pads out there and though they do dust a bit it's not bad. The dust oxidises to a purplish colour too if you leave it on the wheels for a while which isn't great but I don't find the dust to be that bad. Also the dust is very fine and doesn't seem to pit the wheels or embed itself badly as does the dust from cheap pads.
Of course ceramic pads are the current "thing" in trendy brakes, lol. Most people do tend to go for ceramics which are quiter and supposedly lower dusting. However personally I'd rather go with semi-metallic.
I think most people with 99+ cars go with Hawk or EBCs, but PF does make standard CMs for these cars as well, I believe. Other than that you've got ceramics as mentioned.
Since you have a turbo though, and nitrous you might really want to look into a big brake upgrade and definitely a rear disc upgrade from the GT (if you haven't done that already).

right now i am using cheapo ceramics from advanced auto parts. but once the good weather comes im going to slap on HBK red stuff pads.
theyre pretty good but they dont last long. id go for a rotor change dude, the factory ones suck..

I have NAPA ceramix on both GA's. No noticeable dusting and they last a long time

The GT rear disc swap will most likely be going on in about a month or so. I would like to be able to do a big brake kit upgrade, but still tryin to save up for a stage 2 head.

Safety first- It needs to be able to slow down as quick as it speeds up.
I have the OEM pads and they've been doing great. Lets put it this way....I stopped from 100 mph to 0 one day without any break fade and the anitlocks kicked in the whole time (I was racing some Honda, and encountered traffic).
As for performance, semi-metallic pads and slotted rotors are the way to go....anything else, OEM is just fine.
BTW- I beat that honda

I use the Brembo slotted rotors with Hawk performance pads

I myself am going to be swapping my stock brakes out for after market ones, specifically MMS Crossdrilled-Slotted rotors with Carbon Metallic pads.
I was wondering if anyone uses those so they can let me know what they think of them so I can judge before I buy.

the carbon-met ones i have now are pretty good. waiting on new pads so i can switch to my brembo cross-drilled rotors and EBC RedStuff pads

Duralast gold pads, duralast rotors. Been a year and it's still all good.

On my '99 I ran Performance Friction Carbon Metallic. On my '03 I'm running EBC Greenstuff pads front & rear. I love the Greenstuffs.

... I just used the 'nromal' Munroe Ceramics from Canadian Tire and they perform fine for me :)

I put the EBC slotted/dimpled rotors on my 97 GA GT with the EBC Red Stuff Ceramic pads. It stops on a dime. There is no brake fade. Just make sure you follow the brake in instructions. Ceramic pads have 50% less dust than metallics. Also if your going to get rotors don't get cross drilled rotors, the uneven heating cycles cause them to crack.

col. i hear that alot about cross drilled, but from what i read that mainly happens to ppl that auto-cross with them on. but thats not really something i plan on doing. i guess i'l jus see how the cross drilled work for the street.

When it's time I'm going to try replacing the rotors with factory style ones and using Duralast Gold Ceramic pads. I don't need high performance but I want the ability to stop fast in emergency and less brake dust.
I'm still on my factory brakes, they are lasting a long time.

I haven't heard anything bad about the Brembo cross drilled, but you gotta watch out for the cheaper ones. Especially the ones that are cross drilled and slotted. You gotta pick one, either just cross drilled, or just slotted. Having both features removes way too much material. They won't last long. Make sure to torque all your lugnuts to spec and keep a close eye on them, especially if you live somewhere where the outside temp changes a lot. Uneven lugnut torque will cause the rotors to warp real fast.

You know about the only upgrade for our brakes are the cross sloted and drilled rotors... no option for bigger at all... I run corss/drilled and ceramic pads and they were good for about a year. I run often at the drag strip so stopping from 105 is quite a challenge with out small rotors...

and the brembo cross drilled are really cheap either... lol. but it should be well worth it once they're on.
