... well, GM makes a special filler piece for that already ... actually, the SC/T hoods that come on the cars direct from GM are not removable but if you already have holes, you have an SC/T hood that was ordered through a Parts Department ... anyway, not sure how much the filler pieces are but I am sure that will all the people around removing them, you might be able to locate some ... to be honest, I had them out of mine for a while but I didn't like to look of being able to see "in" the engine so I blocked them back off again ... good luck!!

ok first off, for a 22 year old, you have horrible english (or typing skills). no offense, its jsut giving me a headache.
anyways, from what i gather, you want to make spacers to set the blocker back about 2 or 3 inches, giving the illusion that its open, but its not.
heres my advise, if you can work a dremel this will be easier: trace the filler onto a piece of plexiglas. then go 1/2 inch in from that and two inches out from that. cut those lines out. then make a few more to get the spacing that youre lookign for. then you can put a neon next to the plexi and itll shine through.

... probably be easier to take out the existing filler plates and mount a couple spacers between it and the hood where the screws fo ... then, insert your 'light' (of some sort) ... finally, wrap something around the plate and light combination ... personally, I'd leave them closed like they are now and simply put a few LEDs or something from the backside being they are small and provide a bunch of light, plus, it won't look all that bad when you lift the hood if you frame the wires right underneath ... good luck!!

no no no, ok, first, get the grilles you want. second, install them with plexi glass behind them. then, put neons/cold cathodes/whatever behind the plexi.

measure out the scoop before you buy neons or whatever, dont want to get somethin too big then have to angle it in.

To be honest I wouldn't worry about water getting in. I take the blocking plates out in the spring & put them back in for winter. Once you get that black glue off there are little torx screws hiding in the ends ( 1 at each end ).
That was the first mod I did to my car when I bought it . I didn't like the plates in .
