I just want to tell everyone that is thinking of going to this meet.....DONT!!!!!!!! It is a total waist of time. No one there is friendly. It is in a crappy part of town. Everyone there thinks they are better than everyone else. All everyone wants to do is drink. And play some retarded game called beerpong. And to top it all off.........you get told there are gonna be waffles in the morning and then you have to beg to get them.

It all depends on our training calender really. I should be on block leave for three weeks after we come back from training and those dates actually fall into it. Just got to save for gas money!

as much as realllly want to go, because last year was such a freakin blast, I dont think I can....

We made the goal to get out of the appartment at the end of the lease and buy a house... that means pinching ever penny we can... which means no road trip to NY.. :(


Hopefully in future years we will be able to go again... but I dont think this year will work....unless someone wants to pay for us !! :>

last years trip put me back about 1600 - 1700 bucks I think.... but we also did the NYC trip, and stayed extra time for that....

Dan, there are not a lot of Albany meets left. The GA is no longer made and people will move on. There is no telling how long Club ECM is going to be willing to put all the work in to make the event as good as it is.

Cut out the beer and hookers and you should have enough to get the house and camp at the Show and Shine site. :D

Seriously, I hope you can manage to make it this year. I still regret being a wimp and passing up the first year that I heard about it.

IIRC the track is 30 bucks if you intend to make some passes. Otherwise its alot cheaper just to watch.

The first year I came down I was really unsure of going. I had only been a member for a few months and really there was nothing special about my GA, but I decided to check it out anyway. Now mind you I am not the kind of person that feels comfortable talking to new people or trying to join a crowd, but when I drove into the parking lot I was flagged down and and the people already there made me feel right at home right away. This is a great group of people and I would recommend attending to everyone. I have not missed an Albany meet since, and don't plan on missing one ever.

but yea people are VERY friendly at albany :) as JMILLS said, we do approach new comers, wether we know them or not.

There's a lot of Rochester NY people go across for the casino at Niagara Falls and I think that they are requiring (or at least recommend) passports to drive across. I'm not sure, I haven't crossed in years but I hear things on the radio. Check with customs.

Is Binghamton near Albany? I have friends near Binghamton I can stay with for a night or two....and it takes me about 2 1/2 hours to drive there. I really want to go to this, and NY isnt really that far of a drive from Harrisburg (Im used to driving down to the Winston-Salem area of NC from here)...

Yea... that was freakin hilarious... he came to my car first... and we ended up with most of the grapes too since I had an electric cooler in the back seat.... we didnt eat any in the car, but once I got a chance to wash some at the hotel, they were pretty damn good grapes!!
