Has anyone tried painting the stock black mirrors on a 92-95 GA? I'd like to give it a try this summer, any suggestions.

I'm sure someone has done it. i too plan on doing my mirrors up once it warms up.
It's probably like any other painting job... sand it real well, use some quality paint...etc.

I have seen them painted. Makes the car look 100% better. Mine are painted but not the color of my car. When I made my mirrors I repainted them gloss black instead of that crappy flat black that they come stock as.

Sorry for the crappy night pic but its like the only close up I have.

Joe, those mirrors look great, I'd love to make some mirrors with LEDs like that, did you start with a mirror for another car and mod it to fit?

Nope thats the stock GA mirror. I stole the LED light bar and clear lens off a Civic M3 mirror.

Nice, maybe I'll give something like that a try this summer, How hard was it to get the mirror apart to install it, I saw another thread recently saying it was pretty hard to get the mirror out of the housing.

Taking the mirror out of our housings? Its only two screws and everything slides out really easy.

great, maybe it was for a newer model that was having the hard time getting the mirror out of the housing.

oh and i dont know if anyone asked but you are taking them off the door first right? I have heard some pretty bad overspray stories because people did not take them off the doors first

That would be kinda stupid to not take the mirrors off first, since its only held together by 3 bolts..:)

Yeah, I planned to take them off the doors first. I think I'll try mounting some LEDs in the housing, similar to the ones on Joe's car. Not sure what color his are, but I'd probably find some that are white. Then once I get that to work I'll paint the mirrors red and see how it all comes out. Also trying to decide what i want to do about the exterior pillars where the front and rear doors meet, the paint is a bit peeled, so I'll either do some sort of overlay or paint those red too.
