Are you talking about the air intake baffle or the insulating mat on the hood?

I really have no idea, he said that it ran from the air intake box down into the wheel well. but i took a look and that just runs to the grill. i think it may have been the resonator but idk, anybody know any way to make it sound louder though?

i have the 3.4, ill just wait and get headers and exhaust kit for it, i was looking at the Pace setters are they anygood?

A CAI and headers and exhaust are totally different. To get the front part of our retarded stock air intakes you need to take off the front inside fender well or the bumper. Its easy to get at then.

after installing the CAI will I loose the pick up that the ram air gives after punching the gas or will it be stronger than the ram air?

1. You don't have any pick up off of your ram air
2. because of point one, you will only gain power/acceleration
Ram air doesn't do much in our cars, so getting a CAI will only be a gain.

se v6-170hp gt v6-175hp..... 5 hp from "ram air" and bit better exhausty? come on GM. lol. take a good look at your ram air tubing. you'll see where it pinches up. thats no good at all.

Actually Nick the 5 HP comes from the different gearing in the tranny. The GT models have a higher final drive gear.

hp from gearing....?
bballr4567

Yea the GT has the 3.29 final drive ratio while the SE has the 3.05 which supposedly gives the GT the extra HP and Torque.

you wont get hp out of gearing, you'll jus go faster or slower. like with my truck, its got the 3.73 rear. the 4.10 will take off faster but will rev higher on the highway, thus drink more gas. the 3.25 will take off slower but rev lower on the highway, thus drink less gas.

Yea I know that. Its the ONLY difference in the drive train though. Even with the Ram Air the air still has to go through the air filter which is exactly the same setup on the SE.

plus when they figure the hp numbers, thats engine dyno, not at the wheels dyno.
bandit307

How accurate do you think that dyno is anyways? You think ram air even gives you 5hp? You will gain more off a CAI then you already have from the Ram Air. So there you go. Get a CAI better performance, looks and sound for the win.

yea. unless ya get a real good ram air set up, but that'd be a custom job
bandit307
02-19-2007, 10:33 PM
And it wouldnt be worth the money either for the custom setup. When you can pick up a CAI for $100

yea. thing i plan on doing is, i think its AED that has it, its a ram air hood that puts the air to the stock air box. so why not make that work for my WAI, might not be true ram air, but thats a hella alot of cool air blowing on the cone.

I suppose if you want to spend that kind of money on a hood. But CAI is one of the best things to start with for the price. Thats all im getting at.

02-19-2007, 10:57 PM
yea, i feel ya man. and it'd probly take another round in iraq before i get the hood. but the SC kit is before the hood. lol but the hood does atleast look nice. i could always spend 30 bucks on the stick on wanna be scoops.... LMAO
P.S....... some one shoot me if i ever do that. stick on scoops are so {(censored)}
