I have a 99 GA GT with the "twisted" 5 spokes that come on them stock.
My question is this: I have seen the "chrome" version of the same wheels on GA's and i am quite fond of them.
At this stage of he game, i don't want to spend any money on afermarket wheels quite yet.
I have run accross some of the "chrome" wheel skins that are specific to this wheel. The ad states the following:"You do not have totake the lug nuts off. The skins just snap on. You may have seen them on grand ams and not known it. They make the silver alloy wheel look just like the GM optional chrome clad wheel."
Does anyone have these? How well do they fit and is it TOTALLY obvious that they are not "real"?
Any input would be appriciated before i go out and buy these.
OH, and they are not a local item, so no, i would not be able to "see" or try them on before I buy!:roll2:

Totaly obvious
Sometimes leaving things stock is better than cheaping out on a mod just to have a mod.

I agree with coupe when I first got my car I tried to mod my car by putting chrome hubcaps on the car and i ended up taking them back because they just looked horrable but i also tried lots of other cheaper stuff just because i didnt have the money at the time but to be honest you should just save your money for rims because if you just keep spending little bits of money you end up being unhappy with what you get and wasting your money on stuff that dosent look good just to have somthing different dont waste your money on the chrome covers for them because they dont look that great

I don't think she is talking about hub caps...
I believe its these covers (ebay item# 190081564538) that come on stock wheels that make em look like a chrome rim.
I have no experience with these "skins", but I know some one on this site recently tried this... Let me see if I can find that thread.

That is CORRECT! NOT hubcaps but those things!
I would NEVER put hubcaps on Alloy wheels :P
I have not been able to look at any GA's with "chrome" wheels up close to see if the wheel is chromed or if it is these things!

They're covers I think....IMO- the powder coated sliver ones are nice looking anyway.
What color is your car....errr, moms car? I saw a green GT sedan the other day with silver rims and it looked really nice.

Well, It's My car and since i'm a mom ... it only mad sense to go with...momsgt and it's black with tinted windows. all the emblems are kind of a smoked color...
i'm the second owner i think and the previous owners didn't do any extra upkeep other than maybe the odd drive thru car wash:(
I also don't want to do rims right away, and i figured that if these are not too bad then they might be ok for a while:P

The chrometech are steel wheels with a plastic chrome center, not really a chrome wheel. I never looked but maybe the painted 5 spokes are lurking under there. I also would be curious how original these are as the GF chrometeck have 2 pitted ones from new pad disinagrating.
