Alright hopefully this one will work, I'm not sure why its not working correctly but go to this link and on the right hand side when it opens you should see a colum and it will say "full size" click that and you should get a full size immage of the picture.

now is that cold air intake or a warm air intake?

That would be Warm Air Intake.
im still waiting to see how a 2.4 cold air intake looks seems like everyone has a wai.

lol. yeah u could say its a warm air intake, I live in upstate NY n its been real cold the last week and alotta snow so i havent had time to finish it yet, i jus put that one together about 3 days ago. I plan on running the cone down into the fender when I have some more time.

Another thing about the CAI is that if you have the cone down in the fender where dirt can get to it easier it will get dirty faster, which will mean you will have to prolly pull your headlight alot to clean the cone (depending on where you put the cone). This can be a pain. Another issue you may run into is the stock intake tube where it goes into the fender is pinched and is not a circle. If you found a aftermarket intake they may make a piece for this I'm not sure, that would prolly be why you see most GA's with a WAI. If your building one, like in my case you may want to use a flexable tube for that spot. Below are some pictures of the stock intake system. (Since I'm assuming you havent ripped yours appart yet.)
Heres the stock intake hole in the engine bay.

Yikes, are you serious.
What is all that extra stuff (I'm assuming hidden because it's in the fender) for?
NYC ICE
02-16-2007, 06:18 PM
lol its all extra gm stuff, i found that it made the car quieter, with out all the fender stuff u get better air flow and a more throaty sound when u get on the pedal. The stock fender piece I think slowed the air (it sure looked like it did lol) Ive found with a CAI like i have (from the throttle body to the side of the engine bay i made myself instead of ordering one bc it was cheaper and the way i wanted it.) my car gets better gas mileage then stock and is quite a bit quicker with more pick up when u get on it a little (cruising at about 65 in 5th gear.) ill get some vids soon or something.

all those sharp bends and changes, plus all the areas that are connected together hurt airflow aswell

it wouldnt work, or atleast it would be easier to sell that and make a new intake since your intake will be running to the back of the motor were the turbo is going to be.

Yea it should, it fit on darkfoxs car when he had the HO manifold, and if you look at matts (S/C 95) car his intake setup is similar. And i think ive seen j-bodys run the intake on their GM supercharged cars.

yeah, if i do use it for it i would have to get a new pipe to come from the turbo inlet to the S pipe about the battery, but ill find that out when i install everything.

yea, so your better off just doing all new pipe, and getting it all powder coated with your new charger pipes and all that. Plus im sure you could sell that intake for $100+

100 probley wouldnt be too bad for it. ya say the site has it for 300.. damn that. lol. as far as your inter cooler, have you thought of a place to put it? i had been thinking that about my car since i was thinking about the RSM sc kit at first, that one could use the intercooler if you get the boost high enuff. thing is i dont really wanna cut up my bumber and i havent found a fit i like. but i have found a spot that could work and has the room, tho might need a lil mod'ing. right in front of the radiator. of course, thats with the AC condensor removed. i removed all my ac crap('cept whats in the dash) and it freed up alot of room in front of the radiator. heres a couple good pics of what i'm talking about... (more pics in my yahoo link)
with out oilcooler..

i plan on putting just about everything were bobgagt had it, since most the major parts are from his setup. there are some pictures somewhere on here.

When you say sharp corners reduce HP, yes thats correct some things are unavoidable. Where all my connections of the tubes come together there is a gasget on the inside and its smoothed out so the air flow is not interupted. When I assembled the WAI I made sure of this and did one gasget at a time and built from one side to the other to insure I could make it as smooth as possible. For a custom build i would say its good enough for the price i spent on the parts.

All parts together for the intake tubes it cost just under $90 gasgets and all. The cone filter I recived free, some idiot left his car at my buddies bodyshop never paid the bill and didnt ever show up for over 30days so the car was then legally theirs and it had a brand new cone filter sitting on the seat still unopened in the box so they gave it to me lol.

lol oh well. All the ebay ones I looked at for the 2.4 didnt go from the throttle body to the side of the engine bay so I decided to make my own. I used to have a WAI going from the side of the motor to the side of the engine bay (which is what most ebay ones were) when i deleted the black piece that went from the throttle body to the side of the motor that comes stock i knowticed the car had more low end power, which only makes sense with most things the straighter, less turbulance, and less resistance something has to pass though the better it flows.

hey guys this is my first post, i have a 2000 grand am se and i just got a Bomz "cold air" intake from ebay (actually warm air...filter is right where the old air box used to be) and i was wondering if anyone could tell me how to extend the pipe into the fenderwell.

get some exhaust piping and bend it to fit, i think in the 99+ you might have to move the battery, someone correct me if im wrong

AutoZone sells make your own intake kits and pieces. defferent angles and pipe lengths. one of these days i'l get around to extending my wia into the fender. which brings me to something about that.... pulled the plastic wheel well off to get to that area, and removed that last piece of the stock intake. but i was amazed and shooked to find only a small pin-hole in the thing... wth? lol makes me wonder how the engine got any air thru that stuff. its been a few years since i threw the rest of the plastic junk away so i cant check the fit of the stuff.
