my intentions are to hook up a 15" lcd monitor in my car and than hook it up to a xbox or ps2 or sumtin..
i could power it all with a power inverter my only questions were how would i be able to do the audio?
anyone know if this would work ?
or if so what problems may i encounter?

As long as it has video inputs then you shouldn't have any problems. ..just might have to be creative with mounting it.
yeah .. cant i buy a plug that has rca ends and has like monitor plug on one end?

a monitor plug? Check with the screens manufacturer.
yeah you know the end of the cable that plugs into your computer im looking for something that i can plug that into and it splits it into rca cables so i can plug it into my xbox...

LOL no that won't work. You need a scan converter box that goes from composite/S-video to VGA (that's if the monitor has VGA input and isn't DVD-D only). Or unless the monitor is a combination TV and has composite/S-video input, but in that case you wouldn't be asking in the first place, lol.
I don't think the xbox supports VGA either (could be wrong but I don't think it does) so you'll need a converter. You could try to find one that does component to VGA instead as the xbox does support component out. Still you can't just connect that to a VGA or DVI input.
As for the audio you'll need an AUX input on your HU or AUX input adapter for the HU, to get audio in.

You will want a device like this, it converts from rca to VGA inputs. I think the newest one they have goes to 720p on a regular lcd computer monitor (assuming said monitor supports 1280x720).
so do you guys think i have a good idea here? or any ideas?

No no an xbox in the car is a good idea, hell i'm either putting an entire PC or just my xbox 1 in my car haven't decided yet. But if you want your xbox to display onto an lcd monitor you have to get the super vga box.
well i think im still going to stick with the computer monitor no ideas how or where i am going to mount it
any suggestions?

Well, idk about the 99 se's but on my 95 gt i had like some sort of cubby hole thingy on the ceiling where you would normally find map lights/temp display stuff, if you have one of those you could engineer some sort of flip up mounting system that plays off of that little storage space. I've always wanted to do something like that with it since nothing useful seems to fit in it,.
yeah i thought about that...

I can't really think of many other places, we don't have a ton of room in our cars.
OR you could have it come from behind of the flip down seat which accesses the trunk. That way everything is tucked away in the trunk, but then of course people have to sit in the back to play

15" monitor (especially one designed for home use) is going to be relatively huge for a car.
There's pretty much no way you're going to make that monitor work in the front. And if you do somehow install it up front you're gonna get pulled over first time a cop sees it, LOL. I mean where on earth would you mount that without it obscuring a whole lot of your out-of-windshield/forward view?
Most installs that put in big screens are usually for show not for functionality, unless it's in a van or something. Even hanging it from the ceiling for rear seat passengers somehow (not going to be easy if you want it to look good) is going to severely obscure your rear view due to the size of the screen.
In many show car installs, such a screen is mounted on the trunk lid, so when the trunk lid is open you see what's on the screen. However that's essentially pointless in a daily driver car that isn't otherwise modded up with tons of fiberglassing work.
I mean I'm not telling you not to try, but I'm just saying are you really going to be able to make practical use of it, or are you just trying to put it in there so you can say "I have a 15" screen in my car"? lol.
yeah after sitting in my car last night trying to figure out where i could put it i just ran outta ideas...
does anyone have any sunvisor screens or screens in thier headrests?

If you are just using a cpu monitor here's a cable that is VGA to RCA http://www.cablesnmor.com/vga-rca-cable.html or here are some converters http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/video-to-vga.html
Not a clue where you could stick a 15" monitor, besides in the trunk. It's a little big for the dash, sunvisors, or head rests. Only thing I can really think of is mount it to the roof and have it flip down when you want to use it, but it would be in the way of the rear view mirror if you had it down while you were driving.

Yeah if you had it on the roof i suppose you would have to have it offset and sitting over the passenger's side just so it doesn't obstruct the rearview mirror.
yeah i kinda scrapped the 15" monitor idea..
maybe im going to look into some sunvisor ones
dont know where to buy them though
