i was reading that the gmos-01 and the gmrc-01 use the dual pre-outs on my pioneer hu so the sounds quality shouldnt change because i am using the preout instead of the internal amp on my hu?? does this sound right?/

The wiring harness has nothing to do with the pre-outs on your HU. The Monsoon amp accepts speaker-level inputs. However, depending on the actual power of your HU, you can overpower the Monsoon amp. My Kenwood eXcelon KDC-X659 sounded great hooked up to the factory Monsoon amp & speakers, much better IMO than the factory HU. My Alpine CDA-9835 sounds terrible hooked up that way.

Hook it up and try it to see what you think. But the best advice is that you're going to replace any part of the Monsoon system is to replace it all. Forget the monsoon amp & speakers. Install your own amp and components. You'll be much happier in the end.

you have the same hu that i have and your current setup will sound better with it. there is nothing to worry about your monsoon setup at all. i have went full pioneer with the interior speakers and RF in the trunk, but for about the first 2 months with the HU, i had all stock speakers.

Alrite, this was a little while ago, about 8 months, but I'll share with you what I thought.

I got an Alpine CDE-9852 HU w/ stock speakers. The sound quality improved a lot, mainly just for CD play and iPod hookup w/ stock speakers. my antenna was crap and and the FM reception was crap as well. I didnt feel like dealing with it at the time, so the HU was taken out, but I noticed a good deal of improvement of sound when it was in.

Hope this helps.

EDIT: I dont have the Monsoon system, but I did have tweeters in the door, so I guess the speakers are the better stock speakers...but still stock. ;)

it sounds a lot better, the reason being is that the stock HU can provide more power to the stock speakers than the stock HU

Couldn't agree more I just replaced every thing in my 04 GT and the New HU Kenwood EZ-500 and my Blaupunkt speakers sound just great now I just need to add a sub and amp anI'm good to go. I also did a complete rewire of the speakers.
