Whats up guys well I read and searched and read some more about 99+ GA stuff but I have a 97 GA and the rear 6x9 blew so i want to replace them but I know that it can just be any 6x9 due to the configuration of the cars sound system. So which speakers will work with the system ? I saw some 3 way 6x9 's and some regular Pioneer ones but i didnt kow which ones to buy so I ask which ones and not brand either just type i.e. 3 way etc ?

Thanks

Our cars are not special...to say the least when it comes to sound. You can't get an amplified system until 99+ in the GA so almost anything you buy will work just fine. I have 3-way Pioneer in the back and they work well.

Do you have a stock system right now? Or do you have a sub, etc? I found that disconnecting the rears if you have upgraded the speakers up front and have tweeters too with a sub setup sounds quite amazing. I was skeptical at first but a lot of people have talked about this before and they are right.

No I have a stock system the one that came from the factory I just want to replace the blown 6x9's. And if i wanted to couldnt i use an in-line converter to run a amp and sub set up from the factory radio? I dont want to do that but just asking. and HOW do you get the damn speakers out of a 97 GA ? Ive looked around in the trunk and dont see any screws pop clamps etc to take out the old 6x9's where are they is it similar to a 99+ GA ?

Absolutely no special system in your year GA, nearly any 6x9 will drop in and wire up like normal. You have to remove the back seat and rear side pannel plastics to access the rear speakers. I'm pretty sure this has been covered before.

One tip I have is when you mount your speakers mount them below the panel putting the screws in from the bottom up. That way next time you need to make a change you can do it without removing the rear deck.

Yep, make them drop down when you get your new speakers, they should come with the bolts necessary for this. IDK if yours is like my 95 but you have to remove the molding around the door area going all the way back to the panel that covers your speakers. Then remove the 2 bolts holding the bench seat on and remove it. Then there are 2 bolts holding your seat belts/seat back on remove those. Then work the back panel out of the car and your set.

Thanks all yeah why GM would make speakers sooo hard to get to ? Anyway yeah i got a pair of 3 way 6x9's Alpine i think off ebay for 25 shipped! and will install when they arrive and as for that guy who said i think this has been covered well it has but not for a 97 GA only 99+ which is all i found when i searched and while i had a hunch it wouldnt differ much i still wanted to be sure.
