Well, I had my Fast forward performance (FFP) pulley installed today with a 1 inch shorter belt. The pulley made a huge difference in acceleration. It is a pore mans supercharger. The new pulley is enough of a difference were you will feel it. I am very happy with it. For anyone who thinks it is not worth it, it is. I did have to reset the ECM after installing it. Otherwise knock on wood, no problems. If there are any questions please post them. I want this forum to be dedicated to the FFP pulley for anyone else who is interested in one.

How much did you pay to get that installed? If ya dont mind. Do a quick search one guy said it messed his car up pretty bad but it might have been a bad install. I guess in this weather it its worth it to get someone to do it I payed 40 bucks the other day for a oil change :toilet:. . Good luck with it only heard one person with a problem out of like at least 50 probly way more like 200 on here.

Yes, it is a good bang for the buck mod. I had one on my 98 3100... I did poly engine mounts at the same time... good combination.

a few questions for you:
1. Where did you order it from and how much shipped
2. Again, the install price?
3. Is the ECU reset as easy as unplugging the battery for a few minutes as on other cars?
I'm really tempted to get this before headers, intake manifold P&P, and PCM reprogram if you say it's as worth it as you claim. Then I should be done with performance modifications until i can get the MM stage 2 package piece by piece over time. Gotta love high paying jobs (location wise) and low rent

I also have it, hands down best mod ive done to my car cause its something you definetly notice, although i dont think the mechanic who did mine(was to lazy and didnt have space to do it myself) didnt line up crank sensor right cause sometimes when warm it has a hickup doesnt miss or trip a code or anything, doesnt bother me to much.
1. you can get it from http://www.fastfwdperformance.com/
2. install price ran me 1.7hrs which works out to be 120bucks standard rate is usually 1.4 if the guy knows what to expect if you have the 3400.
3. in the event that after the instalation you get a service engine light you will have to take your car to a GM dealer and have them perform a CASE relearn it basically lets the pcm relearn the crank position and dealers are about the only ones with the equipment to do this. but really it shouldnt trip any codes unless its installed wrong and has a mis fire. either way its a good idea to have the CASE relearn done anyway most dealers wont charge since it takes less then 5 minutes others might....so no unplugging the battery wont fix it bc the pcm will revert to stock settings which are made for the stock crank pulley.

I don't see where the sensor comes in, the crank and cam are chain driven in a separate housing, why would a pulley change effect this?

Because theres a sensor ring on the stock pulley that needs to be installed on the new pulley, and chances are you wont put it back on 100% the same as it was, so you do a CASE (crank sensor) learn. A dealership can do it with a tech2.

I personally don't believe that it can be put back on properly without doing a relearn. I mean if you look at the spacing between the windows and the speed the pulley is spinning, its a very delicate operation getting that thing callibrated.
I did everything properly and I got http://www.gaownersclub.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_censored.gifed. Having said that I highly recommend the mod. Once its working, it works just fine...its just too bad i had to spend 700 bucks to reach that point.

Is there any proof of how beneficial this mod is other than ass dynoes?

I speak for myself when I say i don't have any proof, but its really quite trivial to prove empirically that this mod works. Its very simple. By reducing the lever arm of the crank pulley, you reduce the torque applied via the physical law that T = r x F. The only other place for the torque to go is to the wheels. Since all pulleys are equal (neglecting minute errors in machining the thing), all cars get equal gains from this mod. And the gains are certain and real and do not depend on "variables" like temperature or restrictions or anything like that. What that gain is, I don't know but it can be pretty easily calculated.

They had a dyno of it on a stick 3100 in a 'retta I think on FFP's website.

Anyone with a DHP Powr Tuner can perform a case relearn as well.

Thus my interest in buying one...
...speaking of which, anybody in the greater toronto area who wants to buy one with me let me know.

Glad you like it norbit!
For everyone asking where he got it, he bought it off me when I parted out my car. I dont think ffp sells them anymore, however I believe milzy is going to be making ud pullies soon.
I loved the ffp pulley. IMO it was the best mod for the money besides my mms pcm. I had to replace my crank positision sensor when I put mine in cause it got damaged, but I never got any relearn and my car ran fine.

Where did you get the sensor? The guys at the dealership who ended up fixing mine told me you can't buy them separate cuz they are always sold WITH the stock pulley and no other way. I would have bought a new ring in 2 seconds if I knew I could have.

I actually didnt order it. My friend who was helping me works at a dealership and had one overnighted.
I had it installed on my OLD 3.1 and when i dropped in my new motor i installed it on my 3400 turbo.
Yes it does work very well, added a few ponies that's for sure but what i noticed even more was the rev was alot quicker. This pulley will certainly have more benefits with other serious mods like Headers, Turbo, True intakes and fully upgraded 3" exhaust..... BUT it won't do shit with cheap stainless intake pipes and/or your Canadian tire mufflers...
This mod will greatly help the serious modders.
Were can you buy one. FFP does not make them anymore

Nowhere then. I know rsm used to make stock size lightened pulley but I dont know whats going on with them, and I wouldnt realy want to do business with them anyway.
I cant remember if it was milzy or the 60*v6 store that is designing new pullies that somehow dont require you to use your 24x ring.
