I have two 10" Alpine Type S subwoofers hooked up to a 1200 Clarion AMP and it pounds the *$&% out of my car, they are installed in a Band Pass Enclosure and they sound amazing hooked up to my Pioneer DEH-7700MP deck.

I love my type-s 12". If you're looking for just SPL (boom) you can do better, but for accurate, tight bass for the price and availability a type S in a sealed box will do ya just fine. I have mine wired to an older Pioneer amp feeding it just over 300W RMS and it fills in the lows perfectly for me. Like I said though, if you're looking to wake the neighborhood a single type-s isn't going to do the trick. Alpine is one of the top brands in car audio today, and has been for many years. I have Type R's in my Grand Am and I had a Type S 12" in my jeep and it was a great all around sub. They definately don't deserve being compared to some "no name" brand....

look into getting MMATS subs. their P2.0 12's go for 159 a piece, not bad and lots and lots and lots of "boom"
