First and foremost: Has anyone ever tried to fit 8.5" wide wheels on a 99+ GA. I don't particularly want something as wide, hoping for 7.5", but my option provides me a good deal, but for 8.5s. Wide tires, sure they're cool, but as I've heard before, I don't wanna rip my transmission to shreads if I decide to get some decent summer performance tires for them. (If anyone just knows off-hand if Konig Tantrums even come/came in 8.5, that'd help too. The man I'm buying from confirmed that they were, but I can't find any weight for 8.5, just 8" and then straight to 9". The wheels came off a Grand Prix, but I know the offset is different, want to be sure, and also want to not feel like a total idiot when the wheels don't fit.)

Short Version: Will 18x8.5 Konig Tantrums fit on a 99+ GA?

Secundo (long version, short version below): Everyone talks of doing the rear disc conversion on an SE, which regardless of whether its "that much better", still sounds like a fun challenge. While I want to do the change later, when I can find a GT, the weather is warmer, etc, I want/need new pads nowand want to get new rotors along with them. I've seen brembo drilled FRONT rotors for cars with REAR drums, and the same for cars with REAR discs. I asked the guys at streetbeatcustoms.com "hey, wouldnt they be the same regardless of rear brake application?" and he said that sometimes they're posted that way because dealerships will seperate them to price them differently so that they get more money out of people, but if I called him up, he'd make sure to get me what I need.

Short Version: Are the front rotors on SE's and GT's the same?

Rotors are the same. I have a SE and A GT.
I also ran GP lace spoke wheels on my SE until 1 got dented and I switched to GA 5 spoke. The GT runs Olds wheels with snow tires so unless there is a difference for the really wide GP wheels, they fit fine, the offset is the same

sounds good, but how wide were your gp's? my car is also being lowered 1.7" front and rear, so i dont want to run into rubbing issues

I do believe the GPs have the same offset however the stock wheels are wider. Not sure about that.

Also when you run 8.5" you might run into rubbing issues but also not too sure about that.

The full size wheels I have are the same width as GA wheels, 6.5 or 7.
The 8.5 wheels you mentioned have no effect on the trans., we just went over this in the 7.0 7.5 thread. It's the tires. Also you asked about the wheels hitting when you may also be talking about tires.

You asked about certain wheels and yet you fail to mention the all important offset
