need help with door pillars

hey whats up? i got a 02 se and the door pillars are chipping like crazy, i cant stand it anymore, i would like to paint it with some glossy black, but i need some tips PLEASE HELP!!!! lol

Tape the surrounding area off, sand the pillars down to bare metal/plastic, fill as needed. Lay a coat of primer or two, a few coats of color, and one or two coats of clear. If you want it looking good you would use a spray gun instead of a rattle can. Give drying time between coats and don't put it on too thick or too thin.
