You do realize that LEDs aren't as bright as headlights. You couldn't drive at night with them.

(Note: Led fog & running lights are for show and color only. Although these are the brightest led fog and running lights made, they are not as bright as halogen bulbs).

i know that... I never said that i would use them at night. I have another pair of headlights that I am modding and am trying to use these in a project

Well, what I was wondering is this... I see luxury cars driving down the street and I've even seen an SRT-4 with headlight bulbs that when they drive towards you at night they have a bluish tint. Are those xenon bulbs or what? Cause I want those in my grand am...

yes, those are the xenon with a hint of blue gas in them. you can get them for cheap at the site that i posted above, and even get different colors other than blue.

what i want to do with these led lights is to make them into strobes

There is a company that makes DOT legal headlights for vehicles. I know they make them for Ford trucks.

On new luxury cars and vets you are actually seeing HID lights. It's a new system that doesn't use a filament like normal bulbs but instead is more like fluorescent lights, just taken up a notch.

Not exactly a new thing..... HID has been around for a long time and in the last 10 years or so has been made more economical for automotive use.

Thanks man. I'm going to check at autozone first though and see how much theirs are.

Those are nice. I had the option of buying them with my headlights, but they are expensive!!! They were like more than $300.00. But by what I've seen, they are worth it... If you have the money. Lol. I'd like to do the HIDs in the future... But that won't be for some time...

Ford trucks, including the Explorer DO NOT use projection headlights. They are normal Halogen lights with a round reflector. Just because a light is round does not mean it's a projection beam. Projection beam will use a convex lense to concentrate light much like a magnifing glass would.

My comment about Ford truck was while looking for Headlights for my Eddie Bauer Explorer I found a company that makes and sells DOT legal LED headlights for them.

my parents both have projection lights in their cars... not just a round reflector

Why not make the available bulbs part of the mod? You could epoxy in the socket from some j/y smashed headlights.

that's exactly what im doing. i have a pair of scrapped head lights and i wanted to use the 9007 socket to have a strobe so i could switch them in and out whenever i go to car meets/shows

So you can get 9006 sockets, mod them into the show headlights. cut off your original sockets, put in a quick disconnect such as a trailer pigtail. Have one for the original sockets and one for the 9006.

Or you could break apart the 9006, remove the light and put into an original bulb base

i feel like doing it the hard was and breaking the 9006 base

Explorers DO NOT have projection headlights.

Look at my motorcycle in my signature. The smaller lights on the inside are true projection headlights. The larger ones on the outside that sit back further are just halogen lights with a round reflector, just like the Explorers have.

If these are Projection beam lights,

Then might someone might want to tell my wife her's are also..

FOUND IT! The Audi R8 comes with a choice of xenon or LED head lights...

Hella did develop a LED Headlamp kit with VW so it does seem plausible that it could debut on the R8. Ford also released the Aston Martin Rapide Concept and Iosis Concept with LED Headlamps.
