does a 3.l engine from a 92 grand am bolt up to a 97 grand am if i have both complete cars for parts??

are they both the 3100 motors? because if they are im pretty sure they will work

There wasn't a 3.1 motor in a '92 Grand Am. The 3100 (3.1) started being used in the Grand Am in '94 through '98. I would check the year of the car or type of motor. Also only a motor from 96-98 will bolt right up withough any modifications.

The 3100 series 3.1L did not exist in 92. The 3.1 MPFI that did is way different.

The 3.1 MPFI was in the Cavaliers, Sunbirds, etc

beretta, corsica, grand prix, cutless supreme. From a bolt up look, it will bolt up. Wiring it to work is another thing.

mechanically similar, different intake and probably heads... but wiring the older engine into the newer car... not a good idea.

Swap in a 3400 and use the sensors from the 3100, I've read here that it would work.
