I don't have them installed, but I went to a nearby audio shop that also does window tinting and got to talking with the guy. One thing led to another and we were doing a "sound-off". I'm pushing more power through my car than his truck but holy crap his system sounded so nice! Granted, I got more "noise" out of my system and out-volumed his, when we both had ours just about at its peak, his system still sounded like it did when turned down low.

Just to let you know, I have a full pioneer setup with 2 RF subs in the trunk. His truck has the same pioneer HU but full memphis audio, so I know that it was just speaker vs. speaker and not other factors from the HU. It was insane how nice they sounded and I may just have to get these.

I was just wondering for all you other audiophiles out there, what are your opinions on Memphis Audio? Is it worth the money, or just another company out there?

Memphis Audio is pretty good. I know a couple people and they a quite happy with the subs and from what I hear worth the money.

Memphis makes some great subs and amps, and nice component speakers as well. I'd take Pioneer's PRS components (such as TS-720PRS) over Memphis components, but I'd take Memphis over Pioneer or RF for amps and subs.

If you decide to switch subs now, make sure you have the right box for whatever it is you get.

May not be factors about the HU, but there is the factor that his is in a Truck and your is in a Car, the acoustics of the vehicles makes a big difference too.

Is his "truck" a truck or SUV, if a truck was it regular cab, extended, crew? If its a regular cab truck, then it will be louder because the airspace is a lot smaller.

I wouldn't base decisions on comparing your car to his truck, I would try to see if you could find someone that had them in a similar vehicle and listen to them in there.

its a crew cab 2500... and yes, i know that acoustics play into it, but it is also a factor that we didn't overlook. at the same volumes, the noise/sound ratio should be about the same and mine seemed to fall apart around 35 while he pushed his HU all the way up to 62 (max) and sounded crystal clear

Ok, so your not saying that his are necessarily louder, but play cleaner at a higher volume?

If so then that makes sense and if you feel that you need to listen to yours that loud then maybe investing in some better quality subs/speakers would be a good idea. :D

RF isn't known for sound quality, for sure...

If you are looking for SQ, you are looking for Fi Q subs, SI Mag subs or the new to come SSA subs. Amp should be something like memphis, IA, Sundown. Still recommend CDT or the PRS's from Pioneer (Which is what I will be putting in my car).

Just some things to ponder!

Ive got a memphis amp, will be getting another 1 when I do the rest of the interior speakers. I love it, cant speak for the subs or components tho. Its very clean and clear. Which is what I care about, I couldnt care less if noone outside of the car ever heard it, as long as it sounds awesome inside.
