Turn your car onto accesory. Now see what works. Tap the fuse that powers that device and you have your source of power

Tap into the accessory power wire to the radio, Its either yellow or orange, Use a multimeter or similar to see which one has power when the key is turned but not when its in the off position.

That's basically what Ray is saying, except he said to tap into a fuse for something that is only on when the key is in accessory position.

You want to tap before the fuse unless you only want to power something small such as an sat. radio.
You ca either find an empty fuseholder that still has the power side in it or get a fuse tap that will go over a fuse when you put it in. You could go to the backside of the fuseblock for a neater appearance

i got mine hard wired so i guess all i will do is where the cars wires connect to my wiring harness i'll just open that cap up and add them in there that should work fine shouldnt it?

Your original post never said sat. radio. I only guessed that. You can tap that off of the radio power, either splice it in or 3m tap it.

My original response was good for any accesory. If you radio is mounted on the roof, and wires running behind the moulding, tapping at the fuse block is still easier.
