I know you're new here but you'll learn that there is no big deal about GT1s.

gt2? thats a new one!

gt/gt1 the difference is usually one option that prob gets upgraded by everyone with a gt to begin with. and there is a gt package... otherwise it would be an se ;)

and lots of us (including myself) have debadged our cars... its a nicer and much cleaner look.

Yeah some even debadge only to go and add vinyl stickers where the badges were. Not a bad idea because Vinyl is easier to clean (no ridges to catch dirt and no problem waxing over).

You know the whole GT Gt1 SE thing is too confusing. It's like they are trying to trick us. SE used to be the high end on non-performance cars, then LE came in and could be above or below SE depending on the make. The GT was the cat's meow, but now GT is becoming low end to GT1, GTP, GT-R, GTX etc. Where will it end? Will the 2010 GTO be offered as the Pontiac G10 GTP-XR with an option package making a GTP-XR2?

Thats one way to do it. I would advise NOT touching your paint with a paper towel.

Put a 1000W or 500W halogen light on that area and look real close. Paper towels are very rough for use on paint.

Well, I debadged my 2000 GA last year. Easiest way is to take to pieces of wooden dowel with a high test fishing line between them and slide it behind that badges. Took me 20 mins to take all of them off. Best to do it on a hot day, makes the foam tape backing more plyable

Yup Tom...I'm leaving the ole' Grand Am all Pontiac stock. I guess for two reasons.... For one, my modding days were way back in the 70's with my '78 Trans Am and '74 Firebird Formula 400. I guess those were my hell raising days. Two... I was lucky to find this Grand Am because a 75 year old man owned it and took immaculate care of it. I guess when you're semi-retired and still own 15 NAPA stores, you have access to any replacement part you want so the car is in great condition. The only time somebody sat in the backseat was to Windex the back windows.. I'm lucky I found it when I did...

So I guess at my age I'll pass on the mods.. But I like to read about you guys here and what you're doing to your rides. Hey, I can still be young at heart; and I can still throw down Budweiser's with the best of 'em !!! LOL....

Oh, just thought of this.... The only thing I did to the car was to get rid of those ridiculous DRL's, and I got rid of the ALC too. Other than those two things, the car is all stock.... Maybe some day I'd like to get a ram air hood for it... but that's about it... Gotta hit a lottery first, lol..

Complementary post: If you don't have the patience or flexibility in your schedule to wait for a warm day, a hair dryer work wonders.

I recall reading a few posts about people having great results with that fishing line method. I guess the line is strong enough, yet wont scratch up the finish.
I would assume the heat from the blow dryer would really help out too; seems as though the hotter the better.....
Then of course, that Goo Gone is awesome stuff too....

on the other hand, I'm looking for a set (or two) of the GrandAm GT badges. Color doesn't really matter. If anybody has a set kicking around, I'd be happy to pay shipping. The dealership wants $60 for a set, and I cant find any GT's in salvage.

if the paint on your car now is good, then it will match up fine, you will just want to give it a good wax once you get all of the adhesive off

I used fishing line and a piece of wood. no hairdrier. once I got the badge off I dumped rubbing alcohol on the foam crap and rubbed it with my finger and it came right off.

Does this happen often in your daily commute? That's like saying under bright enough light Jessica Alba isn't as hot. Who cares, she hot in normal light!
