most people just tap in behind the cigeret plug with a switch and a fuse its right ther

I hooked up mine to the ignition wire so the pedals light up when I turn on the car it works very well

can i get some directions for how to use a switch and the positive behind the cig lighter?

well thats very simple really all you need to do is get behind the cig lighter and grab the positive wire then tap into it and connect another wire to it.
Then connect the other end of that wire to your switch.
Then connect another wire to the switch and the other end of that wire to the positive wire on your pedals that is the easy way to to it

some1 i know said i need to buy wire splicers. i take it taping up the connections isnt an option

well You can buy little connectors that are meant to tap into other wires and the also have connectors to connect the wires together with crimper's and lots of other tools for wiring and I personally have most of these tools and connectors and use them all the time but as long as you are not stupid about how you do it there is nothing wrong with cutting the wires and using electrical tape if you don't have the other stuff

wat do u mean being stupid lol? just wondering

well I mean that you have to make sure you cover all of the wires with tape and don't let the positive and negative touch each other.
I just meant don't do anything stupid and you will be fine

Paul, you have alot of ways to get power to a source. My favorite (if you read some of my past posts) is using "ATO Add-A-Circuit". These can be used via the fuse box for any accessory up to 10 amps without cutting or splicing into a current wire. Another method is using a tap-in squeeze connectors, their used for any 22 t0 18-gauge wire with the use of slip-joint pliers (I have used regular pliers for this application, also) If you use this method, per example-cigarette lighter, you'll need to pull the fuse at the box so you don't blow the fuse or zap yourself-BEEN THEIR!!! Then other ways is cutting the wire you want to use,again-cigarette lighter wire(fuse pulled) and using wiring crimping connectors and a wire crimping tool. And with using these connectors the way you want to do it is endless-example-double-crimp connector, etc. I also have used soldering gun/pen method-trimming away some wire without cutting the wire in half, and soldering. Remember-if you use the cigarette lighter this wire (positive) is HOT AT ALL TIMES! So, you'll have to put this wire into a switch and from this switch going into your accessory wire you'll need to add a fuse.

so how dangerous would it be to just put the positive like inside the fuse to something like the turn signals? with no other modification to the fuse, just putting it in under the fuse.

With the style fuses that you have that is not the way to go-when cars used to have the round type fuses I used to solder a wire to fuse and place it in a open circuit. With the fuses your running now the easiest and safest method is using a ATO ADD-A-CIRCUIT. And to test the fuse location to see when that fuse turns on when you turn the ignition key, I use a circuit tester(w/a bulb in the middle of the hand grip). But all what you need is the dash lighting circuit/fuse.

so i can add my pedals on the same "circuit" as the turn signals or something along those lines huh? and where can i buy those from?

Cigarette lighter splice shouldn't be too hard. Cut some of the insulation off, tie the wire in, solder it, tape er' up.

grrrrrr now im confused lol
Ok so, can someone tell me the steps and wat i need to do this the easiest way? go off either the cig lighter with a switch idea, or the driver's side fuse box way....... thanks

Easiest is going to be subjective so it depends on how you want to do it. If you don't have a lot of experiance with wiring then the Add-A-Circuit fuse holder is probably going to be your best bet. You can get them from Parts Express here (http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=071-580). As you can see, you'd plug that into your fuse box and then the wire running from it would be crimpped to a wire running to your positive on your peddals. Then just ground the negative wire from the pedals and you should be good. I'm not a fan of light up pedals, but to each his own. This will probably be the safest and cleanest method for you. I would never reccomend tapping into existing wiring. Yes plenty of people have done it, and done it safely and properly fused and such but there a ton of installs out there that I wouldn't get anywhere near and certainly wouldn't ride next to. There's no reason to do it that way if you can set up a new circuit using the add-a-circuit or running a new power line from the battery and sicne you want the easiest way then the add-a-circuit is the way to go.

You can still put a switch in if you want so that you can turn them off while driving if you needed or wanted to for any reason, you'd just put the switch in line on the positive wire between the add-a-circuit and the pedals. It would look like this (http://www.oznium.com/forum/images/diagrams/6.gif) except the power source would be your add-a-circuit instead of the battery.

Hope some of that helps.

ADD-A-CIRCUIT where to get- Advance Auto Parts, AutoZone, PepBoys, most auto stores stock them. Remember, their is two different types of Add-A-Circuits because of the two different sized fuses. So if your not sure take the fuse with you that your going to use in your fuse box.

wow sweet, there is an advance AP on the way to my autozone, ill stop there first i guess then and compare prices i guess. so ya think i should just use the fuse to the turn signals or wat?

Paul, you'll have another fuse box at passenger side. With mine-I used this for my a-pod gauge lighting- on my 2002 GrandAm I used the " A) INST LPS" fuse. The Instrument Light fuse is the smaller type fuse that's 10AMP- with the ADD-A-CIRCUIT I of course inner kept it at 10AMPS and outer dropped it down to 5AMPS (for the gauge lights)

Oh,YEEAA!!! that's why I used that fuse. The lights will only be bright or dim by you using the dimmer switch.
