first off i have a 99 grand am GT v6

i need to replace my power steering pump, it went out in a snow storm after i pulled out of a slide trying to get onto my road. after reading through a lot of the posts on here about power steering pumps my assumption is that i over steered the car and the pump went.

so i am planning on replacing this myself and i have read some posts about replacing the pump and i also downloaded a pdf file about replacing the pump as well. my question is about the pulley. i was looking at napa.com and i see that the pumps don't come with the pulley attached to it,so how difficult is it going to be to get the pulley off the old pump and to put it on the new pump?

or would it just be easier to buy a new pulley and put it on the new pump?

any help would be great.

thanks ahead of time.

You can rent/borrow a pulley puller at most auto parts stores...I went to O'Reilly's and did it right there on their counter with one of the employees.

Unless there is something wrong with your pulley, don't waste your money on a new one, just reuse the old one.
