I've been reading a lot of threads on trannys and the general consensus is that the stock tranny on a GA cant handle too much. I dont know what the difference between a 4t45e and a 4t65e is but obviously there is a difference. My question is could you throw on any transmission that you could get your hands on?? Like, could you put a new GTO tranny on the GA and would it be able to handle performance better?

GAs are fwd, the gto is rwd will not work. second of all, the 4t45 is not a weak trans when you know what to do with it. the 4t65 is a good trans also, they just are not made to fit in our cars. there is alot out there for the 4t4x trans for those who want to look. i am going to run a high stall converter in mine, 3.91 gears(up from the gt ratio of 3.29) as well as some other stuff. just keep and eye out and you will see a few good things soon
