i noticed today my trans acting funny while doing my power steering flush.

so my car takes forever to heat up enough to kick on the fans, and while i let it sit for the flush, it got to that point. then i was reving it up a few times , not too hard, i never hit it harder than 3-4k and i popped a SES light. ok i know the light is always for my EGR as it happens when im slow crusing or downshift into 3 or 2. ok so i put it in reverse and its got alot of power. pop her into drive and that initial thump of the drive gear kicking in wasnt there? i gave it some gas and it acted like it was in neutral or the brakes where applied. got real scared , tried reverse again, had tons of torque in reverse but nothiong in the drive gears. so i turned the car off and let it sit while i put my last bottle of PS fluid in and started her up, put in drive and its like nothing ever happend... wtf i hate transmissions.... any ideas?

How many miles on this 12-yr old car?
How long since the tranny fluid was changed?

well i changed it last summer and after 6 months it looked brown but the place said it was fine so whatever, i guess but it happened once before , long time ago scared the shit outta me then too... but yesterday i put a lil lucas in to hold it off until i can swap the fluid any recoomendations like trick shift or just OEM fluid? what i wanted answered is why or what why did it happen and what sensors are involved to make it act this way or was the fluid simply overheated and due to the fluid looking burnt, did it just fail? but why did it have tons of torque in reverse??
i just dont want to replace my trans that would suck, so hopefully its just a fluke i hope

i have about 130K on it
