Hey guys, this is my first post over here at GAOC... I am a 4-wheeling enthusiast and used a few tricks for the bush that may play usefull on our cars.

The torque converters in Jeep cherokees are electronic, same with GA's... You can bypass the ecm and drive the jeep exactly like a standard minus the clutch. When you stop the engine stalls... unless you hit the toggle and its back to normal.

Same on jeeps and ga's... when you're on the highway and pull the shifter back into 1/2nd gear, it'll downshift by itself. Same with upshifting... it'll automatically go into 2nd. I want to be able to trick the ecm into letting me stay i whatever gear I want untill I shift it myself.

Follow me? Anyone on here done this before? I'd love to get my hands on the diagram. Reason being, I cant downsift into a powerband leaving automatics powerless and boring.

what u are looking for is the diagram for the solenoids when they are on/off. but what you are asking will do alot of bad things to the transmission. if you want to keep it in one gear, buy a manual. or if you get a 99+ GA, you can keep it in 1st if u put it in first and second will only stay in first and second. when u bypass the controls with manual switches you can ruin alot of circuits and not only turn on your SES light, but also make it turn to limp in mode and also reduce power to the engine. if you are looking for the diagrams though, ask about the 4t60e trans, which is what ur car comes with.

so just wondering...why do u want to do this to your poor car? if u rele want an automatic that u can shift, buy a car that has autostick on it or something like that...

I enjoy making things "my own"... I can pull a engine and have it back in, in a pretty decent time; but when it comes to moding things (not so simple things) I like to do my research and experiment. If I blow something up, than I didnt do it right and it'll consist of going to the wreckers for parts.

My last car I did a full stainless fmic, 14.2psi on a aftermarket turbo, dsm injectors, apexi1, 2 3/4" turbo back exaust, shaved the head, 3 angle valve grind etc etc... I average a car a month, Literally... this'll be my 19th car! If I blow it up, drop a new block in it and sell it... no sweat off my back. But why not experiment in the meantime? Everything I build I do on a budget... I do my own work because I'm cheap....

So why do I want to shift manually? I like to be in control; not the computer. I want to be able to shift at redline, drive er' at the rev limiter for 5 minutes... If there was a way to hook my laptop up to the obd2 (right?) and control shift points, than I would do it that way.
