glove box lock key?

I don't know about other 96-98 GA owners but mine when i got it used had only key with it,worked on doors,trunk,and ignition,but now my question is does it work with the glove box lock? i was trying to lock it one day cuz with some of the things i out in there i don't want stolen since i don't have a car alarm yet and the thing would not lock,i turned it both ways and kept being able to open it.Is there a key that i was not given to me when i purchased the car?

For my 2001 the same key does everything. I accidently broke the lock on it though. (didnt think it was locked and pulled till it opened). Maybe the lock inside is stripped.

yeah my ign key works for my glovebox too. Well heck if you can just pull it open why lock it? a theif is going to do the same thing.

Yeah I thought the same thing because it didnt take much for me to break it. Hell I didnt even know I did it at the time.

i think 95 and before has 2 keys and 96 and newer has one but if the key locks/unlocks the doors and truck it should lock/unlock the glovebox where my car has 2 keys where one is to turn on the car and and the other one is to open the doors, trunk and clovebox but i have a 95

yeah, its your ignition key...mine is, and I have a 97 as well....

i have a 93 GAGT, and my lock doesnt work either. dont know what key it runs on tho. I took mine out, and looked in back of it, cause the ligth always stayed on, took it out and looked behind it , and their was some paer back there, taht prvented the glove box from closing all the way, but i dont think it made it lock, but it made it possiblwe for teh gloxe box to close all the way, and turn off that anoying light!!!!! lol
