I just bought this car used. Don't know actual mileage. I will be customizing it for a long time to come. It has a 2.3 Liter Quad 4 (Rag on me, it's ok. ). I haven't done anything with it, besides install my temp stereo. I won't be keeping my amp or the headunit because I will be replacing them with either an Orion 600D or a Hifonics TXi6004. I will be replacing the headunit with a Pioneer 6800MP. I have to replace the brakes and a few small things before it's actually running right. Here's some pictures. It needs cleaned, as I have been working inside of it for days.

Here's some videos of the trunk flexing from the Subs with about 3/4 of the power they will be receiving. I will be doing my own DIY sound deadening.

Actually the Quad 4 isn't tat bad of a motor. It's 5 times better coupled to the 5 speed manual, instead of the 3 speed automatic

Well, I've seen people sayin' the Quad 4 is crap, but it seems to roast the tires with the 5 speed.

Probably the guys that think that the V6 is "The Shit"

A 2.3L Quad4 DOHC can be boosted with a turbo or supercharger and easily out-do a V6.

Really? I didn't know they made a turbo or supercharger for the 2.3liter. I'll have to remember this one. :evil2: :evil2:

Hey now, no canibalizing here, I4 or V6, we all live under the same badge = P

Looks like a LO Quad 4, find the HO parts and swap em!

I would clean it up a bit, after I get the car running better. No need in cleaning it up, when I'm just going to have parts layin' everywhere in it. The car's floors wouldn't be so dirty if the car didn't come with all the water that it did. Looked like the car had been in a flood or something. Spare tire well was 1/2 full of water, the driver side and the passenge front floor was soaked with water, but that's slowly going away.

How much would it cost to turn this motor into an HO? I was also wondering how much the Quad 4 (HO) governer is for a new one?

The LD2 engine ("LO") was the only one to get in 1995, this engine is commonly refered to as "VIN D" in alot of manuals. The parts you would need are from the LG0 engine ("VIN A") from the pre-1995 Quad 4 H.O. Generally, it'd be the cams and a few other parts. It'll do a boost from ~150 the LD2 gets to somewhere around 170+.

As far as cost, it depends on if you work on your own vehicle and how well you are with it. It shouldn't be too awful much to get ahold of parts from a LG0 engine if you can find one.

I will be doing only my own work. I don't trust others... In a few days, I will be going to a junkyard across the road here in a few days, and lookin for HO's and 96-98 Grand Ams to see how much it would cost me to change the front clip from a 96-98 to a 95 Grand Am body.

They don't actually... but there are ways around that.

Stock vs stock, I'd put my money on his car... it has a 5-speed.

With a good driver, your 5-speed will easily beat 3100's. I used to frequently race my stock 95 2.3 manual against a friend's modded 3100 95 GT. Once I learned how to launch decently, I could beat him consistently. Used to have several videos of these races too... some at track, some on the street.
