lim gasket version?

I am about to do the head gaskets on my 96 3.1
I have found there are 2 versions of the lim gaskets. one has push rod guides on it and the earlier version does not. Is there a way to determine which version mine has before actually taking the intake off? Would like to already have the correct parts before I take anything apart.

have not decided yet. I actually just bought the car at an auction and intend to sell it when it is fixed. Have done a ton of these on later models, but wasn't aware there was a first and second version of that gasket. Probably do the head gaskets next saturday. The only thing I can find for a difference listed anywhere is whether there are push rod guides on the gasket or not. Wonder if either version will work or if there is a clearance problem to use the gasket with guides on a motor that had the other version instead.

Not sure on that but my '95 had the guides..

just get that one and i think you'll be good to go..

hope u r right. i have a complete kit for the lim already from a screw up at work. all i will need to get is the head gaskets. i see everybody here pretty much prefers the aftermarket lim gaskets, but after gm revised them the last time i have never replaced one and had it come back.

Yea when i did mine i got Fel-Pros problem solver compleat kit
there a steel frame gaskit great set,that was many many
miles ago not one leak yet..

have you seen the gm set up? the new gaskets have a advised torque spec, supposed to use updated bolts, and the gaskets themselves have a metal plug/spacer by the corner bolts to keep the gasket from breaking. anyway. hope to get this taken care of this coming weekend.
