View Full Version : Random Neutrality?

Okay, another odd question. When you take a hard left turn in my car and floor it, it just revs. If you turn in circles, it will actually hit the rev limiter repeatedly. I've tested this, and while it is somewhat amusing, I don't care for it when I'm chasing someone or being chased.

Don't ask.

Anyway, it ALWAYS does it on hard lefts, and every once in a blue moon will do it on a hard right. It needs a trannie service...that's coming soon. But this car has been doing this for a long time now. As soon as you straigten out, it will actually basically neutral drop itself, burn out, and take off. Fun as hell, but not healthy for the car. My mechanic hasn't taken it down yet, but he thinks that maybe the lube shop that i've always taken it to might be forgetting to put the filter back in the transmission. He seems to think this could cause this kind of problem. Suggestions?

The exact samething happened to me a few days ago on a right turn. It has only happened once, but i just got my car 3 days ago, so hopefully this problem isn't to hard or expensive to fix.

It could be belt slippage in the tranny - just don't go full-throttle when making hard right- or left-hand turns. I've had it happen to me a few times myself making lefts.

I think I just need to look into getting another 4t60E or having this one rebuilt. With 212k miles on it, it won't get any healthier. :(
