The 2.4L doesn't have plug wires. Prolly why you're having trouble finding them. ;)

yup, no problem. I don't know if anyone else thinks the same, but I think these are a pain in the ass to replace. How do you know its even seated right. I had a heck of a time the first time I changed them, when I bought the car.

Its a good idea to, while you have the top cover off, why not. And usually when ever you change plugs you change the wires with it.

not sure, The only main part is a small spring inside the boot that connects the two electrical contacts.

The system is called a "Integrated Direct Ignition" (IDI) setup. Its a coil on plug system, that eliminates the wire most typicaly used in other cars. The coils, ignition module, ignition housing and everything else is all contained under the 2.4L twin cam cover. I dont know the benifits of this system, but i would think that there would be less lose in the spark engery since there isnt far for the spark to travel.

You can upgrade the system with a plug and wire setup, by using an MSD ignition box. But its not worth the trouble on a otherwise stock motor (althought you may see a slight increase in performance.) But other then that, there are no aftermarket upgrades for the current setup. And be carful what spark plugs you buy, these motors are said to run worse with the fancy sprak plugs, the normal AC delco ones are the best option.

yea always replace the plugs in your Twin Cam with OEM AC Delco Platinums -- it HATES every other kind of plug. Especially the bosch 2-4 point fancy ones, I could never get cyl 3 to stop misfiring with those bosch plugs in (hence why I use AC Delcos now :D)

Also, if you can find the boots, might as well replace them when replacing the plugs - they are only plastic and sometimes are susceptible to corrosion/deforming and other weird ass stuff (my old ones had a thick white layer of corrosion on them, YMMV)

those aren't really replacing the boots, they go inside the boots, replacing the spring inside the OEM style ones. 30 bucks,eh,not sure its really worth it. Hell my factory plug boots lasted a good 100k+ miles, lol
