So now that my 5-speed swap is just about complete I plan on doing an engine build. I recently aquired a junkyard engine with no problems that will be my winter project next year. I plan on sending out the block to a machine shop to get balanced and bored out. I also plan on forged rods and pistons since I plan on going boost once this is finished as my project after this one. Just wondering what everyone else was thinking. If you had an extra engine out of your car that you don't care how long it would take what would you do?

If I had a project motor Id definately tear it down, have it steam cleaned,or power washed. Sent it out to have bored and polished. Forged internals,MAYBE have the crank knife edged, stainless steel valves, new springs, ported and polished head, deck lined. All that then probably the GM SC since doing a turbo setup on the 96-98 GA's is a little hard to do with clearence by the firewall/cowell.

ill deal with the head later I think since I want to do one part at a time just incase of problems you can narrow it down easier. As for boost i was originally S/C and now I don't know and figure I will decide when the engine is finished.
