ok, i just received confirmation, and they agreed to everything i asked for. this will require an EBAY account(i think its better that way). whenever these hoods are ready they will set up 5 buy it now auctions with an invitation to 5 people which must be bought right away. so in the list, write down your screen name and your ebay screen name so i can forward it to them.
remember they will be ready in 6-8 weeks so it will be a while until the auctions are set up. any questions you can PM me.

That hood doesn't look functional to me.

Group buy from someone who sells primarily on e-bay? No thank you.

It looks like the scoops are solid. It could be made functional by cutting a couple of holes.

What's wrong with a ebay merchant? They have 27,000+ feedbacks and a 98% rating. They're knocking off 40% ($200). Seems like a good deal for someone looking for a hood.

05-09-2007, 10:39 AM
if i could see some mroe pictures, ie of underneath and the scoops itself to prove they are funcional i'd most liekly be interested

Just FYI but no RA hood on the market is "functional." Yes you can open the scoops to let air into the engine bay but not one hood out there comes with a complete setup that will work with the OEM intake setup.

hey guys. i have requested more detailed pictures from them. I will post as soon as i get them. and this being through ebay is much better, there will be X amount of seperate buy it now's so all the information and payments will be in order.
and sikmindz.. they also state on that page that you need to make your own box if you want to set it up, but it can be done.
:noisy:
02silver GT,, does this help you out in any way?

Take a look at the last pic with the hood up in this link.

As far as i know it is the only hood that is functional. Notice the tunnels from the scoop area and the fact they funnel over to where the air box is. Now that can be made functional.

The SD hood has the same sort of set up. Air duct that dumps over the stock air box location.

it doesnt seem like that guy is taking advantage of it though,i dont see a box it connects to, lets face it guys.. this hood is for looks. most of us already have "RAM AIR", and a good CAI will probably make more of a difference anyway.

do you need hood pins to keep this on?

JMILLS
05-15-2007, 02:26 PM
The hood looks exactly like the GM version (installation wise) from the pics and has a place to attach your hood latch from your stock hood, as long as they did a good job with the mold.

There isnt anything to take advantage of. Even if i did setup my stock air box to my hood the CAI would still be far superior. Any RA hood on these cars are for nothing more than looks.

RazorDX
05-16-2007, 10:39 AM
Yeah, there was recently a thread closed because of a debate about that. I think physically the Ram Air setup is more effective than the CAI at speeds above 120 or so, but under that speed the CAI provides much more benefit than the RA setup.

I dont wanna start a debate, just wanted to voice why i dont have my hood hooked up to my stock air box.

RazorDX
05-16-2007, 11:33 AM
Oh I know, I was just trying to prevent a debate by laying out the information. I had a feeling someone was going to chime in and say that you should hook your air box to your hood because it's "better."

If i were any of you I would not buy anything from Pershing. I purchased a bumper from them over a year ago and they said they would have it sent a couple weeks after i bought it. A couple months later, and many many calls, they would not tell me where my bumper was. They would not let me talk to a manager, only office workers and kept lying to me. One of the times I demanded to talk to someone who knew where my bumper was and they hung up on me. After a couple months i told them i wanted my money back and they refused because it was already in the process. I didnt get my bumper until almost a year after I purchased it and it didnt even fit correctly, it was warped, and the paint was chipped and cracked. And they sent it in nothing but a layer or two of bubble wrap, nothing that was near protective. I reported them to the better business bureau, of which they have other compalints for them, and I couple months ago I actually got a letter from the DA's office in Illinois saying they were going to go after Pershing and wanted my story. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!

check this (http://www.gaownersclub.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=73279&highlight=pershing) out and check them out at the better business bureau

Its not functional, it has to "tunnels" but at the end they merge and are nowhere near the intake system for the engine...plus they are sealed at the end.

I was checking out ebay and noticed that the company selling these hoods offers painting of the parts they sell. How much more do you think they would charge to paint the hood? Seperate of the group buy I might have this done if the $$ is right.

SilverCoupe
06-07-2007, 10:40 AM
they offer on SOME parts,, yes,, but i havent seen them paint anything for a pontiac..so im guessing they dont have the right paints or codes... i think its a no,,,but i'll ask...

We have had alot of orders for these hoods that people are preording for our shipment coming in late July. These hoods are made of ABS plastic type fiberglass."

Silver 4 door
06-23-2007, 03:41 PM
would the 450 include shipping one of them to Canada?

I'm very interested.

SilverCoupe
06-28-2007, 10:06 AM
"shipping to that location varies from $175-$299. We can quote based on address or postal code."

so it would be from 475-599 shipped to canada.

damobster54
06-28-2007, 11:55 AM
I would do it if they would paint the hood also

SilverCoupe
06-28-2007, 01:14 PM
its 225 extra to paint it. they just need your paint code.

SilverCoupe
08-22-2007, 11:30 AM
these hoods are currently selling for 350+115 shipping= 465 total on Ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-HOOD-99-05-PONTIAC-GRAND-AM-RAM-AIR-99-00-01-02-03_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33646QQihZ015QQitemZ 250157190820QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

item number 250157190820

if anyone is interested..

if you message them and ask for 300.. they might give it to you. say " I was supposed to get this hood for 300, I had a deal with Pershing about a month ago but it never ended up happening. If you can set a buy it now auction for me for 300, I can pay right away."

if not,, when you look at it,, its still the cheapest you will ever find it. if you look at their feedback.. one person baught this hood painted from them, and he's very happy. he paid 800. but now its offered at I think 650 painted. looks like a good deal.

Personally, i have already started MAKING my own hood. Its about half way done.. so im no longer looking for a SC\T hood.

good luck.
