Hey guys I searched the forums but only found one thread about my question so sorry if i am beating a dead horse :(. I am looking to attach a pair of lund hood scoops I bought to my hood but i want to smooth the lines and make it look like a real hood instead of jsut a stick on mod. I was thinking of using the 2 sided 3m tape plus an epoxy around the edges then using the bondo fiberglass mat/ filler stuff to smooth the lines into the hood. Will this work can you suggest a better way or maybe the cons of doing it this way? Also do you think it would be worth it to make the hood functional? That would be a little overkill for my talents and i think with neglegable results.

As long as you do it right, you can mold it in using fiberglass. I've seen a few members work in scoop setups in a similiar way (Mankthetank has his custom done iirc). As far as making the scoops functional, it really doesn't do enough for the GA's to make it worth the work. All the more it would do is maybe let some air across the engine.
The stick-ons look like crap and I don't think you can improve on it even by making them look like part of the hood, IMO the only way to go is replace the hood.

If you are going to do it don't use Bondo, spend an extra $5 and get Evercoat Rage Gold premium body filler.
If you grind down the edges of the scoops first I don't think you'll need fiberglass mat. Also make sure to sand the paint in that area with 80 grit first.

If you are going to go to the trouble of molding something into the hood, how about getting something that doesn't look like stick on scoops. Many people have them on all sorts of cars and they are easy to spot.
Search through ebay for different scoops and make it something the fits and something nobody has done before.

I molded a fiberglass "WS6" style hood scoop, pretty much what the late model Trans Am hoods look like and I would recommend using a 3M two part panel adhesive to glue the scoops down. The tape will make the body filler crack, the tape that's on the scoops is to flexible. If you want to mold scoops on to your hood I would look on ebay for something different than Lund scoops, you see them on everything. I posted a thread a while ago in the "Members Rides" section titled "Hood Scoop Project". I have pictures from start to finish. It's been over three months now and my hood looks as good as it did from when I bolted it back onto my car.
