I was wondering what goes on during a SE to GT conversion? What parts are replaced? Is it all appearence or do performance parts play a role? I'm pretty sure they do but what exactly goes in and out? Also how much would it cost from going from SE ---> GT ---> SC/T? If you guys could give me the total price then break it down from SE --> GT then GT ---> SC/T. Thanks!

se to gt is front, rear bumpers, skirts and the option door cladding. since you have an se, you don't have the holes for the door cladding, so you'll have to make some. to then go gt to sc/t you will get a lip for the front and rear gt bumpers, and new skirts, so if you plan on going sc/t, don't waste your time with gt skirts

cost wise, you can pick up gt bumpers at junkyards for 150ish, or you can buy them new on e-bay. Some sellers have shitty molds, others have really good ones, so buy at your own risk. The only place to get an sc/t kit if from PFYC.com so check that out. Then there's paint... all in all, I could see you spending a grand

also, when going gt, you'll prolly wanna get a dual exhaust setup, which is really a one inlet, two outlet muffler and you'll have to get some tips for it

look in the classifieds section as people are selling stuff like what you will need / looking for from time to time

Also, some small stuff like the fender wells need to be changed as they aren't the same between SE and GT if I remember correctly.

So really... The only upgrades needed to go from SE to anything... Is mostly cosmetic? IE molding, bumpers... No engine improvements? Seems that a new exhaust to get a "technically a GT" tag is a lil shy of what would really be needed... Not trying to hijack your thread, or maybe I'm just missing something?

Well... a full GT conversion would also equal an Engine swap to the 3400 SFI with the GT's settings, but it would be easier and more worthwhile to just mod the Ecotec. You can easily find a variety of parts from the Jbodies that would work on the GA's Eco.

The Ecotec can push some amazing horsepower under boost. GM's performance division pushed one to about 1000 horses.

The reason why most people do the cosmetic is that its cheaper. Plus most people have the 3400 already in the engine compartment, so there isn't much to do on it.
