SES light

my cars SES light will come on for a couple days then turn off for a couple days then come on then turn off etc. i know i need to go see what the codes are but what could the problem be if its acting like this?

Something's wrong with the car, and it thinks you should check its Diagnostic Trouble Codes to find out more.

Stop by a Checker/AutoZone/etc., they'll plug-in their scanner and tell you the DTC(s) for free.
