Hello all.

Got a real mind tingler.

Been working on my car now for a few weeks trying
to work out an issue with ........ well ..
I figured my suspention but now I dont know.

I noticed a few months ago a thudd from the front
passingers side wheel.

I knew it was time to update the suspention any ways
so, changed out shocks, struts, tie rods, pass side axel, pass side strut hub and lowerd the car 2 inched with proper new springs.

This did work out alot of my issues with wobble and a few other
things but still have the thudd when I go over bumps.

Today I replaced the controll arm bushings and well ..........
first bump I hit .... sure enough ... Thudd.

It sounds like a vibrating metal to metal contact.
Could a bad ball joint cause this?

Maybe the sway bar link?

These are the only thing left in that regon that I havent replaced
and the noise is driving me crazy.

Any one had this issue before or think what it might be?

Could be links or sway bar frame bushings. Possible subframe mount(s) although you would hear it on braking or accelerating from a dead stop.

Could be the mounts.

Can you replicate it when the cars not being driven? I'd suggest mounts also if it creaks on turning the wheel. Did you check your drivetrain mounts?

no thudd on turns, accel, or braking.

Just bumps. The best way to describe it is
you hit a bump like a speed bump and ... thudd ..dd ..dd .dd.
and if you hit it on the drivers side ... nothing. Just pass side.

LOL .. I know that doesint help much.

When you changed the struts and springs, did you install new strut bearing plates?
Those things crack faster than V6's go thru LIM gaskets, and make a creaking kinda thud when you go over a bump.

It's pretty rare, but it happened to me and the symptoms were just about exactly what you are reporting. Broken sub-frame member. Couldn't even be seen until some disassembly was done. Hope that's not it...

Did the pass side ball joint and the sway bar link kit.
It did remidy it a bit but not fix the problem.

When I installed the struts I did make sure to inspect the
strut tower, strut bearing plates (pulled them apart to
clean and relube the bearings.

Im going to start tomarrow and line any metal to metal parts
with hockey pucks and try to locate or atleast centralize
the issue.

This is the weird part.
The last time I herd this noise,,,,
I tightind up the drivers side tie rod and the noise went away
for along time.

After the tires started to wobble the noise on the passingers side started coming back.

I figured I would find the noise when I relaced every thing.
But I didint.

every thing went back to normal after i replaced every thing.
No tire wobble. Better turning.

But the noise stayed.

Theres only 3 places I can think metal to metal can be left..

The sub frame bolt up to the body lose or warn.
The sway bar making contact with the controll arm.
Engine dog bone making contact with the sub frame.

This sucks.... I might have to take the car in to a  "MECHANIC"

I HATE DOING THAT.

every time I do .. 10 more things are wrong with the car after they fix the first 1 :bawl:
