I have two big dents in the side of my car. I can not afford to have the car fixed right now. ($500 repair)
Besides...I'm getting the whole thing painted next year. So why bother trying to come up with the money for a small repair, right now.
Anyway. I was thinking that some sort of vinyl pattern would due for now. Unfortunatily...I can't come up with much. Cept something like this. Too much for a GA?

PS. If you are a photo-chopper, Please chop something for me... if you have any ideas. Oh...The sheet of vinyl I have, is black.

You can take care of the dents yourself if they're not in a very complicated spot. Since you're going to get it resprayed in a year, I wouldn't worry about doing it immediately (Since it would require you to strip paint in some cases for welding). Usually a dent fix requires you to pull the dent out as much as possible using a dent pulling tool (Commonly a welded on wire, then a puller gun), then on the other side of the dent (Inside of the particular panel), beat on it using a special metal working die to further get as much out as possible. Once you have done that, fill in any further imperfections with body filler and shape it to blend in the with the panel. The use of body filler should be minimal, so make sure you do as much as possible to get the actual dent out. Just globbing on body filler in a dent is half-assing it.

It'll save you a few hundred bucks if you do it yourself before taking it in for painting.

As far as hiding it, vinyl might work, but you'd need to find a way to get the vinyl over the dent without it actually being pressed into the dent (The vinyl tends to conform to the surface it is on)

Pulling the dents isn't an option for a DIY kinda guy. These dents are very deep. Some people thought they were bullet holes.

Anyway...I can cover them with vinyl, as I've tried with a sticker. I just need some ideas for a decent design. Meh...Maybe I should live with them till next year.
Here are the dents.

I think vinyl would work to cover them, you just need to find something to fill the holes in temporarily. I would try either clay or foam, since you can shape both pretty easily and they're both cheap.

Hell, those look pretty easy to me. Looks like something I'd just hit a few times on the inside of the fender with a die.

But anyways, I say derek does have a good thought though with the clay for temporary fill if you do decide to go with vinyl.

The clay would work but I would rather use a foam or even plastic first because it won't bake into a mess over the summer. Plastic would probably adhere to the vinyl better than clay anyways.
