it's possible to swap the 3.1L SFI to a 3.4L SFI on a 97 GAGT right? and would a person have to swap the whole thing or just parts? also, how difficult is it? is it harder than just swapping to another 3.1L? and if anyone's done this and has a considerately explicit forum, id be happy to go there :) im thinking of doing this myself.

search button first my friend, but here ya go http://mywebpages.comcast.net/lisiecki/3400swap also you can do some research on www.60degreeV6.com ........ 96-98 3100 to 3400 would be even easier than a 94-95 3100

What would be harder about doing it on a 94-95? I know the two guys that did this swap had 95's and it is something I am concidering.

I'm curious - why are so many people interested in performing this swap? The performance gain isn't enough - a 300$ computer reprogram for a 3100 could get you the necessary horsepower and torque to run with a 3400......

Because replacing a motor is so expensive, and so much work, some people like the idea at least getting some sort of upgrade while your at it. Besides, if what you say is the case, then you could get the computer flashed on a 3400 and go even faster than the 3100 with flashed computer. Personally, I'm sticking with the 3100...even when this one goes...but that's just because I like staying close to stock.
