I swap quad4 soch to quad4 doch and i have some questions.
*Is the wires same in doch and soch?
*The compression ratio is 15, is it normal? Stock doch it must be 10 The donorcar was buick skylark but `Im not sure. Is it VIN A or VIN D motor? What you think?
* Doch ECU died but chip is ok, can i change it to soch ECU and put there a doch chip or I have to buy new ECU?

Tnx!
Sorry for a bad english.

*By wires do you mean the wiring harness? Not real sure about that. Best bet would be to get a DOHC computer and wiring harness then you would be sure.

* Compression for a HO Quad4 should be 10.0, 9.5 on an LO. 15.0 is way high. Probably will keep your knock sensor very busy running on pump gas.

i think he meant the psi compression. As far as wires now they are not the same and the sohc ecu will also not work diffrent programing. I would recommend heading to the local jy and getting the whole wireing harnest and the ecu itself.

I also have a set of ho chips that i am selling. for 50 dollars each here are the chip # for both: ANFW3796
ANMT3955

like i said this are from the original quad H.O. once from a berreta GTZ (90) and a Cutlass Calais W40 (90). hope this helps

Wrigt now I have a doch motor whit soch wires and soch ECU. It work`s but not good. Tomorrow i change DIS. One question- how I see which motor I have? VIN A or VIN D? In car service they tell that its quad4 HO but in cover plat I have only quad4 16v. I don`t know wich ECU I have to buy.
And in junkyard it`s hard to find because we have only ~100 Grand`s in whole country and maybe 20 in years 92-97.

If you can find the entire VIN number cast on the engine somewhere, the engine code is in the 8th position, but based on your description of the IDI cover, it sounds like an LO unless the cover was changed. HO has higher compression pistons and different cams.
