So, for our anniversary, my bf bought me some cold cathodes from oznium..
4 12inch blue
2 4inch blue
and 2 leds/w wires ran
The LEDs are going in my cupholders
the 2 4 inchers are going to be attempted to be put in my door panel pocket things
and 2 of the 12 inchers are gunna go under the front seats...
Now, my question if where do you think I should put the other 2?
I was thinking one in the nostrils, and the other in the trunk..
Any other ideas?

You could also put some in the engine bay

That would be cool, if it were clean and there was anything to show

I believe the person said he used (2) 12" CC in each wheel well, Only pic i could find

That's neat.. too bad I only have 2... I think I will put them under the hood.. give me a good reason to keep it clean

OK, now I have another problem...
I only get about a foot of wire on each cathode.. and it's connected to some plastic piece on the end of the wire..
Can I splice into that, and if I can what gauge wire?
1 foot isn't enough for 1/2 the stuff we have planned for these things..
Also, the ones for my doors, I was going to put them in the pockets of the inside door.. How do I get those wired and keep this transformer near them?
And as far as cutting the white wires, it's not going to hurt the cathode to tap into that to make it longer right?

Dont worry, i spliced into every CC i bought from Oznium.com becasue the wires are simply not long enough. I spliced into the white wires over 8 months ago and still no problems so your good, Just be careful CC's are very easy to break! I had to replace numerious ones just becasue when people entered the back seat they would kick them off the back seat not knowing that their there. As far as the pockets go, i always wanted to do it but never got around to it so hopefully someone can answer that question:D

Everyone over at oznium says NOT to splice into the white wires. They say to simply run longer power nd ground wires to the transformers and find ways to work around the lack of space between the transformer and the cathode. I've heard contrasting reports on it affecting the output of the cathodes as well as issues with them shorting out. I can't say for sure what the results are like since I didn't splice into mine but that's what they constantly preach about on the oznium forum. Just letting you know.
I've also had issues with the transformers blowing on me, so be careful with your fusing and placement of those as well.

I was going to try to keep the transformer next to both cathodes, but there's just no way to do it (that I can think of) with 2 cathodes in 2 different doors
I don't see how they can say not to splice into them, if they're preaching about how you can use these and exterior/underbody lights.. No way can you put 1 cathode in each wheel well and get to the transformer on the piddly wire they give ya...
:hmmm:

yea thats all well and good, but what if you place the cathodes on either side of the car? there is no way to connect both of them to the same transformer. unless the sell sepreate transformers or something.
i dont think extending the white wires would be a problem. but i agree the closer the box to the cathode the better.

They do sell them seperate, but they're still dual transformers

ok, but just use one side of the box. i dont think there is a rule stating you need to use both sides of the transformer

:hmmm: I'm pickin up what you're puttin down :D
As long as there's no issue with a 1:1 ratio as opposed to 2:1.. I'll just order more

i dont think there will be but i never really delt with ccfls. they are supposed to draw less current so i think it will be ok

The way I have my cathode angel eyes hooked up in my headlights is 1 angel eye per 1 transformer. THere are hookups for 2 per transformer but as length only permits using 1 per, I did and it works fine. THey are very bright too and have been on for almost a month with no problems.

The easiest solution as far as I'm concerned is to just put a SET of tubes wherever you want them. They're so cheap and so small and the extra output is a plus. I have a pair of tubes in each footwell since the wires weren't long enough to put one tube on each side where I wanted them, I'm not sure one tube would have been bright enough for me anyway.

also you think 2 tubes will fit in the door pocket?
XoticGA
06-09-2007, 09:53 AM
Yea 2 4inches fit perfectly in there... I think I'll go that route.. Sucks though, now I only have enough to do under my seats  atleast I have those LEDs for my cupholders to put in today too :D

Well no cathodes for me for another month or so, one of them got broken... Don't have the money to order anymore...

I told you so, Why only a month? You can buy replacement tubes for $2.99

06-09-2007, 08:17 PM
Well, if I'm gunna order them, I want to get all the ones I need.. We'll see how money permits, I was hoping to just be settled with what I had and get the rest later, but now I can't have any until I replace the one that's broken, since I decided to do 2 per seat

not sure if you got this figured out, but just an FYI... the longer the cathode wires, the less brighter it would be. the reason they are so short is because they are made to be put inside a computer case, not a car lol. just cut the transformer wires and extend them

by longer wires, do you mean the white ones? I've decided not to cut thost at all
