would
it be approved by the GA community if an owner of a GA made it have wing doors?
or would that be.......looked upon as an import thing?
personally...i think it makes the car look sexi-er

It doesn't really matter the masses think about what you do to your car, you're the only one who has to look at it everyday... I'm not so sure it would be cost effective on your car, unless you're going to make a full on show car...

My opinion is that they do not look good on 4-Dr cars or on cars, where the window has a frame around it-- like that 4-Dr neon shown above, that's just not right

so basically....the cars wit the doors that dont have a top sill on it look sexi with the wing but the ones that do...it doesnt look right because you have a whole door in the air?
thats kinda what your saying?

That's exactly what I am saying... and again that's my opinion.

It's your car. If thats what you want, then go for it. I've thought about getting lambo doors even though everyone moans about them being overdone. I like them. Just aint got the cash for them.
Do what YOU want with your ride. :)

I'm just not a huge fan, not because I think they're over done, just not my style. But the ONLY way to pull that off on a 4 door is if you suicide the rear doors too.

I'm not a fan of lambo doors, wings, whatever you want to call them. I do, however, wish all Lincoln, Oldsmobile, and Buick cars had them. No more old people opening their doors into people.

Agreed.
My poor car shows the Buick door marks from when the previous owner had it... they didn't park the thing in the boondocks like I do.
Anyways, I say if you want, go ahead and lambo them. It makes it easier to get into certain tight spaces and get out of the car. I know I would be able to use my garage if my doors were lamboed. But as is, I can drive my car in the garage, but I cannot get out though.

im kinda jus more curious about them than anything....they do look good and all but $900+ just to make doors go in a different direction...is it really worth it? not likely

By the photos you posted you are showing Lamborghini styled doors, not 'winged' ones. "Winged", as in Gull Wing originally found on a Mercedes Benz, open up and to the side, not forward like Lamborghini doors. I realize the website you got those photos from is called "wingdoors.com" but that doesn't mean any uneducated ding dong can't buy webspace, a lame URL and start selling things they know little to nothing about.
Is it a import thing? No not really, it's a trend. Just like headlight masks, yellow stickers, spinners, aluminum spoilers, all clear tail lights, neon license plate frames, etc. And just like all those tacky trends it will come and go just like the rest.
Now should you put them on your car? That is your decision obviously. But by reading all your other posts about keeping your car American this, American that you would be kind of a hyprocrate if you went and put a popular import modification stolen from a Italian design on a domestic car right?

Many good ones have springs to reduce the weight, and almost all have gas struts to hold them up, some kits even have two per side.

I've opened a grand am with Lambo doors, its not really any harder then opening a regular door with a regular hinge. But IMO if you want lambo doors, buy a lambo.

I don't like them and don't recomend them unless they a Lamborghini..........Why? Because almost all the kits Ive come into, the doors when open and are up,the slightest wind makes the door wabble. The kits aren't made the strongest and it looks like crap when they are up and are moving.
If someone wants to spend 800+ bucks for something that isn't that sturdy or firm, then thats up to them. If you do anything,do suicide, thats more domestic if you want to keep your car "American"

I don't like the lambo doors on any car but the Lambo. Personally, I think it's overdone, and it might reduce the value of your car. I'm not for turning an American car into a Jap, or an Italian, but again, that's my opinion. Keep it American. Again, this is my opinion, I try to keep things simple, and sleek. Sometimes less is better.
All I have are chrome wheels, tint, and an SC/T hood, and I'm stopping there!

IMO i wouldn't go with it, but hey someone could try to photoshop it on your car and see what it would look like for ya.
I'm not that good with PS so someone else will have to

Ok whatever...
Sorry some dumbass incorrectly represented his products by naming his company something it is not. Technically they are "vertical doors", but since they come on stock Lamboghinis they are also commonly known as "Lambo Doors", as everyone else above already knew.
But then again, you never stated "Wing brand doors", just wing doors, which isn't even capitalized how it should be if it were a brand name.
Now you have a bit more automotive education under your belt. :D

what would be involved in that process?
the hinges of course
TA^Guy
06-06-2007, 11:33 PM
You would need to cut the door frame to mount the new hinge boxes inside, then bolt the hinges to the door, bracing the door is a good idea. You will also need to remove the latch and striker and move it to the other side or buy a new one from Autolock or Sucidedoors.com
It's a bit involved, I'd say a good 50 hours for both doors, but totally worth it in the end.
If I get any free tme (work 13 hours tomorrow) I'll try to find a lik to someone who has done it so you can see.
