Im inquiring about buying a sea doo, but am unsure if I am able to install a hitch onto my car.

My car is a 1993 Pontiac Grand Am GT, it has the factory body kit, and runs a 3.3 litre.

A few companies say it is possible, but I may have to cut a piece of fibre glass skirting out, to make this work. Just wondering if anyone else has tried to put a hitch on a GT, and how well it has worked.

Even better if I could get someone who has installed a hitch on the exact same model car, but the odds of that are slim.

You can if you make custom brackets for it that makes it mount to the frame, then mounts to the hitch. You'd have to make it hang low enough to clear the rear facia. DO NOT, under any cirumstances, attach it to the actual bumper. The bumper (Facia, or the understructure of the bumper) is not made for rental style hitches or any other types that mount to it. You can only mount a hitch to actual frame.

You could also, if you're towing, just remove the facia when the hitch is attached if it is close enough to the frame to cause clearance problems.

Anyways, the GA isn't really meant for towing anyways. According to the manual, 1000 is the MAXIMUM weight of the trailer+load (For the V6 only. It says to not even tow at all for the Quad 4), and even the manual states that that may be too much. I also see it wanting you to limit it to 50MPH.

Im only pulling a 3 man sea doo, with a light easy load trailer. Max 800 pounds, shouldn't be a problem the dealership told me.

Especially with a v6 3.3 litre.

uhaul makes a hitch for about any car out there, towing 1 sea doo would be no problem
