sc/t hood scoops

i just got a grill for my sc/t hood scoops from customcargrills, they are pretty damn good, the company and the grills. but i have been reading the threads on the grills being harmful to the engine to have that unrestricted air flow. My goal is to have these grills just to make it match my current grill as they look kinda funny with my grills plus that black grill. im also going to put red neons behind them so my scoops glow red. Is there a way to block off that passage so my engine isnt harmed but still be able to produce a mean red glow?

any ideas are helpful.

I'm not really seeing how this is dangerous though. The scoops don't go to the airbox. The only thing I could see is getting water in the engine compartment. I've pressure washed my entire engine compartment and have never had a problem, didn't cover anything up or anything. You could get some misfires if you get water down in the spark boots, it happened on my F150 (it's hard as shit to get mud out of the entire truck....ugh.) Problem solved if you throw some dielectric grease on the boots when you replace them. And if you get a misfire because of that, just wait, the water will evaporate and the misfire will be gone.


Now if you want neons in your hood scoops, the water could be dangerous to them. So like the others said, get some plexiglass and cut it to size, and seal it in with some sealant of some sort, so it's waterproof.

what is the best place to get plexiglass? i couldnt find it at walmart

hardware stores should have some they can cut down for you
