I have a 96 grandam GT and i was wondering what year motors will bolt up and what mods i would have to do to make it work..... Like for instance someone said i can put a 2.4L from an 00 or 01 grandam and it will be the same except for the motor mounts and intake.... Is that true??? And do all the plugs match up to everything also?

they changed the computer in 97, so if you got any newer motor you would have to change the computer and the wiring harness.

yea you would have to swap out the computer because the injectors changed to high impedence from the 96-98 low impedence 2.4 ones.
The 99+ 2.4 has a higher compression ratio so thats why you have to change the computer, timing would be different as well.Overall same motor though

im pretty sure they have the same power 150 and torque 155, just the slight differences they made for no apparent reason

I see a few inaccuracies...here...
You can run the 00-01 engine in the following config...
original PCM and wiring harness (96)
original injectors (96)
00-01 engine assembly
transfer the EGR system from your 96 onto the 00-01 engine
adapt/make the knock sensor from your engine fit into the [different] mount for the 00-01 knock sensor
