I have a 1990 grand am and I'm completely baffled by the problem I am encountering and am desperately looking for some help. If anyone has any experience installing these and can give me an idea as to where I've gone wrong I would appreciate it more than you know.
I have installed the kit and I can't seem to get it to work. I have all the connections right, I believe (green wire to ignition switch on radio harness, red wire to constant 12 on radio harness, black to ground). I tested each lead on the junction box and there is juice being distributed, but for some reason I cannot get the user interface module to power up. No lights, no indication of life...nothing. I thought maybe it was just a bad connection with the user interface module so I exchanged it and still nothing. I've gone over all the connections 100 times but I can't figure it out. It would be one thing if I had no juice coming to the box, but I do, and all the other pieces are getting juice (mic and speaker) but the user interface module just won't light up. What the heck am I doing wrong?
For your reference I am connecting the red wire from the hf850 to the orange wire on the radio harness and the green wire from the hf850 to the yellow wire on the harness and I'm grounding the black to the chassis. Anything ridiculously obvious you see that I'm doing that is incorrect?
